“Preferred over Starbucks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2013

Nothing against Starbucks, but you know... when in Rome...

Visiting a good friend in Palo Alto, her aunt and I went out for a coffee and decided to bypass the Starbucks in favor of trying the Palo Alto Coffee House. Glad we did.

The coffee options were just as good, the decor was more unique and the cafe more spacious. The dark wood interior with the abundance of windows and the outdoor seating allowed for a calm atmosphere without being dark.

The coffee was good, the mugs were real and the tea was twice the size of the equivalent at Starbucks.

The fellow behind the counter was a little more rough on manners, but the clientele looks to be mostly male and they may not notice.

Try it instead of the Starbucks if you are in the neighborhood.

“Great alternative to Coffee chains”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2013 via mobile

The Palo Alto Cafe seems to have been around forever yet just one previous review onTA!! The PA Cafe is a great alternative to the chains and does a mean selection of coffees along with great scrambles. Good location to catch up on news with free newspapers or browsing using wifi. Also plenty of available parking.

“There is nothing not to adore about this cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2011

A desperate hunt for a place that would serve bagels and lox after sunset (Yom Kippur, it all makes sense) ended in triumph and victory, here.

They had several kinds of bagels and bagel sandwiches... I got a bagel and lox on a sesame bagel-- and granted, it was a little pricey, a little over $6, but so worth it, in every way. It came with fresh tomatoes, and capers, and lavish, generous cream cheese.

My boyfriend got the veggie bagel sandwich, with cucumbers and tomatoes and avocados... And while it was a little difficult to eat, it may have been mostly because we were trying to get our bagel sammiches from mouth to stomach as efficiently as possible, ideally bypassing the esophagus.

They also had diet cokes and free wifi, as well as a give-one-take-one bookshelf... There is nothing not to adore about this cafe, even the fact that it's cash-only. Let's keep the mints in business!
