Description: Since its opening in 1974, prime steaks and martinis have never gone out of style at this Palo Alto institution. The atmosphere is very clubby with fireplaces, dark wood, sports memorabilia and plush leather booths tucked into the many nooks throughout the dining room. Famous for their slow-roasted prime rib & hand-cut U.S.D.A Prime Steaks, they also offer fresh seafood, cold water lobster tail & succulent shellfish. The 23 oz. Bone-In Rib eye Steak is the "Boss' Favorite" while the Double Cut Filet Mignon runs a close second. Sundance is respected for serving the best food money can buy coupled with value & simplicity – a welcome relief for serious food & steak aficionados. The menu is supported by an award-winning wine list that features over 400 selections focusing on highly allocated Napa Valley Cabernets & Sonoma Pinot Noirs. Exceptional ratings & numerous restaurant awards rank Sundance the Steakhouse as a true dining destination.

I've been going to Sundance for over 30 years, and it is consistently excellent. The prime rib and steaks are the best on the San Francisco Peninsula...comparable to the finest steak houses anywhere in the US. The salads and seafood are also first rate. Wine list is very good. Service is almost always attentive, timely and thorough. The hostesses do a great job welcoming and seating guests, and they offer a nice combination of attractiveness and professionalism. The atmosphere is sort of a masculine, woodsy, drawing room vibe, but the spaciousness, separation, and natural light keep it from being too dark. If you're looking for a great meal in a nice setting, it's the closest to a sure thing you'll ever find.

great place for a romantic dinner. Low lighting, great service and wonderful food. I would recommend the filet mignon. So tender it is amazing.

Where to start. .totally reminds me of an old school style steakhouse. A little dark..nice bar..had a wonderful lemon drop martini..the clam chowder was amazing. And I don't think we've ever had better prime rib...tops!!

Nice but not as special as evening meals I've had here.

I guess it stands to reason, most folks who come for lunch are looking for an "in-and-out" experience. We were not in the usual rush, but the service was quick and we were done in little more than an hour.

Food was very good, although I didn't enjoy one of their great steaks this time, the prime rib sandwich (french dip) was excellent and the portion more than generous.

The soup of the day was a tomato bisque - also very nice.

One downside that first time visitors should know about is the very (very, very, very) limited parking. This isn't a "everyone bring your own car" sort of place. You'll be lucky to find space for one.
