Description: Since its opening in 1974, prime steaks and martinis have never gone out of style at this Palo Alto institution. The atmosphere is very clubby with fireplaces, dark wood, sports memorabilia and plush leather booths tucked into the many nooks throughout the dining room. Famous for their slow-roasted prime rib & hand-cut U.S.D.A Prime Steaks, they also offer fresh seafood, cold water lobster tail & succulent shellfish. The 23 oz. Bone-In Rib eye Steak is the "Boss' Favorite" while the Double Cut Filet Mignon runs a close second. Sundance is respected for serving the best food money can buy coupled with value & simplicity – a welcome relief for serious food & steak aficionados. The menu is supported by an award-winning wine list that features over 400 selections focusing on highly allocated Napa Valley Cabernets & Sonoma Pinot Noirs. Exceptional ratings & numerous restaurant awards rank Sundance the Steakhouse as a true dining destination.

I went there with my wife during the week.
Great ambiance, welcoming staff. but my meat was disappointing as it had too much fat.
All the rest went ok and we spent overall a good evening

Normally is hard to find a table to have dinner, but today I arrived early and bingo !! Good steak, good wine and environment. If you are close to Stanford, you need to try!

Just went there with group of 5 persons. This place is a bit upscale steak house in Palo Alto area with nicely decorated interior in hunting theme. Very lively place fully packed even on Tuesday night. Great wine and drink list and good steak particularly the prime rib is excellent. Service is also good despite being fully packed.

My second time at this restaurant and was hoping for someplace else. On my first visit, the service exceeded the quality of the meal. This time both were very good. Beer was cold and in the appropriate glass, appetizers were hot and flavorful, salad was fresh and I passed on steak this time and chose the fish special. Very well prepared and flavorful. Requested a wine pairing with a preference for red (yes, red with fish - it's ok). The pinot noir went nicely and completed a really good meal. My minor issue is it is just too dark in the restaurant making it feel old-school. California is light and airy. Don't make the restaurant the opposite.

We had 6:45 reservations on a Friday night, and it was rather busy. The bread is sourdough and yummy. Their caesar salad is just awesome, and if it were bigger, it would have been a meal by itself. The steaks here are just awesome, and I picked a 7 oz filet plus tomatoes. Totally worth it. I last had the white choclate creme brulet, which perfectly rounded out the evening. We were there for a birthday, and the server brought out the person's dessert with a candle and no singing and that was a nice touch. The only thing that marred it was how loud the 4 people two tables over were being, but that's not something the restaurant can fix or change (or that those people will be there if you want to be there).
