Description: Tamarine is a contemporary Vietnamese restaurant that features the light but flavor-intensive culinary delicacies of Vietnam. The restaurant offers a menu based on small plates, promoting the Vietnamese tradition of the 'shared' meal in which food is shared and enjoyed with those close. Tamarine's small plate entrees are enjoyed with the pairing of a variety of aromatic, flavor infused rice, designed to be mixed and matched to create a truly unique flavor experience. Along with culinary delicacies of Vietnam, the restaurant showcases the works of emerging artists from Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.

Upon entering the restaurant and being looked at (not greeted) by 3 hosts, I said I'd look around for the party I was meeting, since I didn't know what name was on the reservation. They stonewalled that and asked for names. Finally I just called someone who met me at the front desk. I guess strolling through the restaurant is not allowed.

The server completely overwhelmed me with getting very close to my face and speaking loudly, with operatic-stage-voice-perfect annunciation and way too much enthusiasm. We ordered 3 things that she not only did not bring, but debated with us whether we ordered them. Way too many servers coming by way too often. This was a business-social meeting, and the service staff made themselves far too obvious.

I'm vegetarian, and though there were a few options, nothing was terribly creative or special.

In my opinion, classy restaurants provide excellent food and seamless service. This place was trying too hard to make you notice them.

I took 20 members of my co-workers for a birthday lunch. The service was superb, food tasty but certainly not enough. What with the cost amounting to $545.00...I paid way too much (I don't mind, if I had enough to eat) The portions was way too small.

If friends and co-workers ask my advise, I will urge them to reconsider.

Excellent place for business related lunches. Not a quickie lunch spot. Fine dining at its best with a diverse menu of items you can't get any other place.

Nice ambience and food presentation - good for a quiet talking lunch. But unfortunatley I am unable to find a good circumstance where it is worth this attitude and additional price.... Portions are small, staff is too snooty for the quality, and items are unbelievabley priced by the piece (even for the "Power Lunch" you must order separately and are charged extra for a single bowl of rice.... please... who needs this?)

You can get better food, a richer selection and better service at Malyasian Spice in Mt. View
