“Great beer selection, and the food is good”

The beer selection is above average, the men's restroom is a pit, and the food is OK.

I've had the fried fish (sandwich and with chips), and the chicken caesar salad. The salad is a winner, the fried fish is good (for fried fish) and served in LARGE portions.

I don't think I would come here just for the food, but for grabbing a beer and appetizers, it is definitely on my list.

After dinner drinks, looking for somewhere to have a drink that wasn't so loud we couldn't have a conversation. Fortunately they serve a few apple and pear ciders, since I am not a beer drinker, but it was obvious they had an excellent selection of beer (and my companion found a not-so-common favorite).

Pretty sure that title says it all: if you're looking for some of the best beers on Earth, R&C is your place. If you're looking for fish and chips or something grilled or fried, it works (sadly, Shepherd's Pie is just ok). And if you have to go to the bathroom, you'll want to look elsewhere.

Not sure why a previous reviewer said no music, there's a digital jukebox on the wall that never stopped playing during my last visit. Also, there is outdoor seating, but that's the smoking area so caveat emptor. Lastly, get there early as the place fills up with students and faculty and stays full until late. Sláinte!

The place is a rectangular box with tudor-style wooden beams painted on. Maybe it's a loveable dive? For some people, yes, that is the case. Here's my case against it:
It's filthy. Absolutely disgustingly dirty. The bar, the "food prep" area - don't even think about eating there, the ceiling, and please - check out the toilets for some of the most "authenti" dive-bar filth you can hope for.

All of that would be forgotten, even the completely ignorant and rude bar staff, especially the short, shaved-head runt-like character.

No, the thing is the beer is LOUSY. I haven't had a good pint there in at least a dozen visits over the last 6 years. yes, sometimes people insist on meeting there for whatever perverse reason.

Admittedly PA is a terrible place to get a decent pint, so I can see why people go there. Anywhere else in the world this place would have either evolved or disappeared.

It's not fancy. It's a bit of a dive. That's what makes it so nice. It's character that keeps me coming back. It doesn't try to be something it's not. Like beer? It has a great selection. No music. No BS.
