“Wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

I hadn't been here since the restaurant relocated and was pleasantly surprised at the new, larger and very nice site. St Michaels Alley was an excellent choice to celebrate a friends birthday.

We made reservations and the table reserved for us was perfect - in a corner with a view of the street. Service was quick waitstaff experienced and very friendly.

Two of us ordered the trout and the birthday person had vegetable lasagne. Our meals were perfect. The trout was fresh and perfectly prepared. The trout was accompanied by fresh asparagus and rice. I'm glad I asked for the almond butter sauce on the side as it was pretty rich. But very tasty. My friend loved the lasagne. She said it was delicious and I believe her. We opted to share the sorbet which arrived with a candle and sweet rendition of happy birthday.

The prices were a bit high for lunch if one is accustomed to a sandwich or salad. There are less expensive choices on the menu then the entrees we selected. But overall, lunch is reasonably priced and definitely high quality. Great ambiance rounds out a really top notch restaurant.

“Great food and good wine in Palo Alto”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

I was here for a conference reception and dinner afterwards. The reception food was very good and well served. The dinner menu was great. I really enjoyed the selection of California seafood that night. It is a small restaurant, so our party took over the whole place.

Although we had tried to book several days ahead for the holiday weekend there was nothing available but they suggested we come along as all the outside and bar seating cannot be reserved so first come first served.

The restaurant is charming: inside the main room, which is not large, inside the separate bar area and outside on the front patio, where we sat in the late afternoon sunshine. The food was also charming. Not great, not good, but charming.

Two appetisers two entrees and a cocktail came to $90, including tax but not service, which was also charming.

“Top Choice”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

Our group had dinner on a Saturday night and the restaurant was busy and fun. We had a great table in the dining room but the bar area is great too. The service was excellent from the reception staff to the waiter. We ordered a variety of first courses including wild mushroom cake and artichoke tart -- very good. We also had an variety of entrees including the scallops, pasta, and short ribs. Our waiter was very entertaining about the clientele. Great dinner event.

“Classy place”

Real nice, classy restaurant. Great food and top-notch service. California vibe and nice local wines on the list. Lamb and salmon are delicious. Price, but still, highly recommended.
