Three of us had a great steak. We met a long time friend that was part of our Friday dining club. Friday the 4th required a great meal. Flemings prime steak met our expectations for quality of food and service

This restaurant is nicely located in the compound of Stanford Shopping Center so it is very convenient for any shoppers. I went there with a group of 6 persons on Friday evening without booking in advance so we had to wait around 45 minutes. We were very confidence of food quality because of the restaurant was fully packed when we arrived. Nicely decorated place but very loud crowd there (similar to a few other popular restaurants around here - very loud noise). We all ordered steak but its beef quality is below our expectation for this price. We ordered rare and medium rare steak but the meat was not juicy but a bit dry. Wine list is very good but not comprehensive for all top Californian wine. Service was fairly good despite the crowd. This place is lively and convenient if you come to Stanford but too loud to have business discussion.

Great food. Calamari was excellent and unusual. Steaks were perfect and sides were all as hoped. Great wine list and service.

"5 for 6 til 7", i.e., 5 items for $6 until 7 pm is an excellent value in a very pleasant venue. We went for the prime rib special, but they ran out of prime rib! It was graciously replaced by a an excellent steak offering. The outside seating is a pleasant departure for a steak house. Good wine list, professional service, easy free parking is a Palo Alto rarity.

Palo Alto, Stanford Shopping Center

Happy Hour M-F 5-7
All HH items are $6 (exc: beer is cheaper)
Choice of drinks or glasses of wine
Food items include: Brie cheese, mushroom ravioli, shrimp, and burger.
Unfortunately, the flavors of the HH items are just okay. The burger doesn't even come close to one from the Oasis or In-N-Out.
Their regular dining experience is underwhelming at best. This place is always crowded; reservations are a must. The restaurant is supposed to open at 5 pm; tonight 20+ people had to wait at least five minutes past five for the doors to open. The reception staff is friendly.
The wines by the glass and entrees are excessively priced. $55 for a steak? Not to mention that this is the first restaurant I know to charge for each Arnold Palmer ($3.95), no free refills!
The pork chop is excellent.
The steakhouse chain is known for its aged beef. Unfortunately, some of the seafood is also aged. The swordfish was old, salty, peppered, processed, & smelly. You get the picture.
The house bread was excellent with two types of butter/mayonnaise.
The house salad was relatively plain for $11 or $12.
The food service by Scott S. was excellent as well as by the other staff.
There are so many better alternatives for the price e.g., Evvia, Scott’s Seafood, Mountain House.
