Not only is Chado a warm, inviting and nicely appointed cafe, the tea selections are first-rate and the sandwiches are excellent: I enjoyed two excellent kinds of chicken salads that were the best I've had anywhere. The service was friendly and really terrific. Their tomato bisque was also solid. I can't say enough about this place - and I'm a daily tea drinker who has enjoyed tea emporiums and cafes all over the world. I hope you'll check it out!

This place is truly odd. It is a tea shop with a dining room offering afternoon tea service, including a wide choice of teas of all kinds, half-sandwiches, fresh-baked scones and small desserts served on a multi-tiered stand. The teas and the scones are great, the sandwiches just average. The problem is the ambience. It is a charmless, very plain dining room with worn, ugly carpeting, with a small, cheesy gift shop built into it. It is very noisy, between conversation at other tables and noise from the adjoining kitchen. Walk by the kitchen through a hallway to the dirty bathroom with broken-down fixtures, and you will be really put off. Lousy atmosphere, NOT a good place to enjoy high tea. Don't take me wrong, the tea itself is great, but I suggest you buy it and take it home.

We arrived around 4 PM on a Saturday and it was very busy. We were seated but from then on we could not get anyone to take our order. We waited 10 mins then stopped a passing waiter and asked if they could send a server to take our order. He said yes and ran off. 5 mins. later when no one came to take our order we left.
With so many great restaurants nearby don't waste your time or money at this place.

Visited with friends for a supposed tea tasting with a coupon. The tea tasting was informative but for the price we paid almost 80++usd with a coupon too...we felt we did not get our money's worth. This was for 3 persons.
The scone and the sandwich we ordered was good. The service was very slow and we had to ask for the same thing several times. Maybe they need more servers when it gets busy. Overall the experience was so so..I have been to many afternoon teas but this one did not leave too much of an impression.

We have had high tea in over 25 locations throughout the world. While visiting Pasadena, we tried Chado's Tea Room on Raymond Ave. While it's not tea at the Ritz or the Lanham in London, it was overall a marvelous experience. The two guys who set us up and served us could not have been nicer. I told them I really preferred coffee but wanted tea, and they suggested Mauritius blend that was strong with a hint of vanilla. Loved it. We had a choice between salad or soup to begin, which was unusual, but we loved having salad with toast points to begin. Then we were brought the typical sandwiches, cucumber chive, smoked salmon, egg salad and chicken salad all on grainy bread, and some of it was toasted to enhance the flavor. There were also two fresh, warm scones--one blueberry and one orange cranberry with clotted cream as well as two sugar cookies and two chocolate cups filled with cream and strawberries. We ate the scones first since they were warm, and they did not disappoint. At the end of the tea, when we thought we would burst, they brought one more item--a pa
