We stayed at this motel over New Years. As others have noted what this motel has going for it is location, location, and location. We booked Rose Parade seats from Sharp Seating and had seats directly across the street from the motel. Band Fest and post parade transportation is located at City College – across the street from the motel. Old Pasadena is within a 40 minute walk or a 10 minute cab or car ride. Of course, you will pay for the convenience (3 nights close to $1000 with tax) – probably the make/break period for the motel.

The other thing going for the motel is the personnel. They were all friendly and helpful.

It is an old facility and with thousands of people camped out on Colorado Blvd, it was noisy on New Years Eve. Likewise generators running on RVs parked on the street provided a constant drum of noise. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean.

Breakfast is minimal fare of small muffins, cereal, juice and coffee. Likewise special event treats consisted of pop corn, pretzels, peanuts, and bagged cookies.

Overall, if you are looking for convenience of location to the Rose Parade, Rose Bowl and related events, the Saga Inn is a good place to stay.

Stayed two nights. Rooms are comfortable and clean, and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are a little dated, but for the price and location you can't do any better than this! Many restaurants and bars are easily within walking distance.

We stayed for five days in November. The hotel was clean, we arrived late and they held our room for us (not the case in several other motels earlier this year) amd the breakfast was good. There is a Pizza place next door and a Starbucks a few feet more. Parking was good. A minor problem with the room was fixed ASAP. We visit Pasadena often and will stay at the Saga again.

Nice motel in the middle of old pasadena on part off route 66.
They have a heated pool with lots of palm trees around.
Free parking and wifi.
Rooms are clean but a little bit dated.
The roomrate is pretty good
We like the older motels

The outside of the place - and the interior hallways - look as if nothing has been done to the place in 30 years or more. (Also, you use an old-fashioned key to get in.) My room was nice, though. The bed was big and comfortable, the mini-fridge was a nice size, the wi-fi worked (though I think my room was closed to a hot spot) and I had good water pressure in the shower. Most of the expected amenities at this class were present. A few oddities: the outlet in the bath is opposite from the mirror, which can be clumsy for shaving; the windows have slat blinds instead of shades; and the only ice machine is across from the front desk. One potential bummer: the heater can set off the smoke alarm. And the continental breakfast really isn't much to speak of. Overall, though, decent value.

Room Tip: Try to get on an upper floor, towards the back (and near a hot spot!).
