“Delicious food and impeccable service in an elegant setting.”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

We really enjoyed our High Tea experience at the Scarlet Tea Room. The restaurant is elegantly furnished and decorated with crystal chandeliers and rich drapery fabrics. The menu has a variety of lunch choices as well as a 3 or 5 course afternoon tea. We used a Living Social coupon which gave us two services for the price of one. It was well worth it. However, if we had had to pay full price, we would have been disappointed by the size of the offering. The three course tea was delicious and a delicate sufficiency. The restaurant was busy and was filled with a variety of guests - young, old, ladies, and couples. The service was a bit slow, but extremely courteous. I was charmed by a young dad and his little girl enjoying the same tasty treats at the table just across from us.

“terrible service”
Reviewed 29 April 2013

This is the first time that we went to this tea room. We saw their ad on the newspaper and we just want to have a try. We went into their restaurant and have been sitting there for 10 minute. Nobody came to serve us. We have to go to the cashier asking them for menu. A lady asked us if we have reservation. Their service is TERRIBLE. The tea and food are OVERPRICED. Not worth it to try. Very BAD experience.

“Visit for Afternoon Tea”
Reviewed 25 April 2013

The Scarlet Tea Room is located on a tree lined street in Pasadena. It is a charming little place - nicely decorated and tables are pleasantly arranged so that you don't feel like you are on top of the adjacent tables. They offer a 3 or 5 course Afternoon Tea, mini tea and a wide variety of regular lunch offerings.
The servers (only 2 on duty) handled a busy room very efficiently and were very nice.
We had the 3 Course Afternoon Tea - I LOVE that you are able to choose your sandwiches (4 'quarter sandwiches' per person from a tempting long list). They offer a nice selection of tea also.
Scones were fresh & delicious, sandwiches were tasty. With the 3 course you get one small dessert - ours was delicious fresh berries with cream.
Individual Tea Pots yield about 2-3 cups of tea - and leaves are left in the pot (you are given a strainer to pour) so the last cup of tea could be a bit strong.
Prices are a little high for what you get, but in line with most other tea rooms in the Los Angeles area.
We used a Living Social Deal which gave us 2 services for the price of 1. There was no problem redeeming it. 15% tip was automatically added & we paid extra for a bottle of sparkling water.
RESERVATIONS are a MUST.

“Perfect Tea Time”
Reviewed 5 February 2013 via mobile

The ladies in my family and I love coming here for our lady days. The staff is great and there's a nice selection of teas and tea sandwiches. The only thing is that is you come on a Sunday they only serve their tea menu. So if you are hungry then you'll be a bit disappointed. But you do have the option of ordering more sandwiches. Overall we love the location and this is a cute little place. Oh and their mimosas are delicious too....if you want something with a kick.

“Great English tea, great service”
Reviewed 29 January 2013

My daughter took me here for my birthday close to Christmas. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and was more than beautiful near the holidays. She ordered the English tea and I ordered the egg salad sandwich but we shared. The tea was lovely and the sandwich yummy. My daughter's soup was also very good. You can get other sandwiches and soup other than the tea sandwiches so if you're not into English teas, don't pass it by. The service was friendly and attentive. The prices were no different than any other tea type places. If you like English style teas, go for it, or just have lunch from the menu.
