We asked the concierge at our hotel for a recommendation for a non-chain restaurant to take our family to and he recommended Bistro 561. The restaurant is a bit difficult to find in Old Town, but parking is close by. The restaurant has a varied menu, so everyone in our group was able to get something they enjoyed. Meats and fish were done properly and service was unobtrusive. They have a decent, albeit expensive, wine list, and they made a very good martini. Overall, it was a fine choice for our purposes, but the cost worked out to be around $45 per person which we thought was bit on the high side.

They did not have the wine we selected from the wine list, the food was served luke warm and then they ran out of the dessert we wanted to order. This was a very expensive evening out and completely over rated. You can find better dining experiences along Green St. in Pasadena. A total disappointment all around!

My husband and I love good food and have eaten at some of the best restaurants, including the Culinary Institute of New York which was fabulous. This was one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. Aside from the fact that it took over one hour to get our food, what finally came was more than disappointing. The bouillabaisse was a lukewarm tiny portion of two little clams, one very small piece of fish and a few spoons of what tasted like tomato paste. It was also to include mussels but they ran out. My husband's very small portion of fish was cold by the time it arrived and tough. We had a bottle of wine so our grand total was over $200. Stay away from this place!
