Description: Since 1984, Parkway Grill has specialized in a seasonal, market-driven approach to cooking that incorporates diverse influences and classic French technique. Demonstrating the ultimate commitment to fresh produce, the Parkway Grill planted its own organic vegetable and herb garden behind the restaurant. Tiki Salad, Brick-Oven Baked Cambozola Pear Flat Bread, and Whole Ginger Fried Catfish are long-time favorites. The design of the Parkway Grill is a study in casual sophistication, striking a perfect balance between elegance and rustic approachability. The brick walls are adorned with elegant paintings by Millard Sheets and mixologists prepare hand-crafted cocktails at the expansive bar, an original from 1920's Chicago. Parkway's award-winning wine cellar, comprised of upwards of three thousand bottles, includes a broad selection of wines served by the glass.

“very cosy restaurant”

its a lovely setting and the food is very good with service to match.
Wine is a touch expensive but that's the norm for California.
Really recommend.

“Great overall experience”
Reviewed 4 January 2014

Wile traveling to Pasadena for the first time for the BCS Championship game in 2014, I looked on Trip Advisor for some tips for good food. The reviews for the Parkway Grill were mostly excellent with a few negatives. After dining there, those with negative views must be impossible to please. From the moment we arrived (30 minutes early) the attention was very warm and friendly. We waited in the bar and were treated like we were regulars. Crab cake appetizers were wonderful and just the right amount for 2. I had the filet and my wife had the ribeye. Both prepared perfectly. Service was attentive and friendly. 5 stars in my book.

“Loads of ambiance, but sophistication not so much”
Reviewed 23 December 2013

The feature here is the ambiance, but the food can be very good. I suspect the waiters are told to recommend dishes that are not moving, for example the NY steak instead of the filet. The whole catfish is very good, but too big. This is a place to be self-reliant when ordering, also as the level of staff sophistication is not high apart from the very exceptional Wally. The emphasis at Parkway Grill seems to be on schtick and schmoozing.

Another problem is wine by the glass. Two were fair and Luigi Bosca Malbec was poor. A wine by the bottle recommended by Wally was delicious - Aequorea Trespasser. A shocker was another waiter's intentionally executed expression of disapproval at our requests for wine tastes. Isn't Pasadena still part of L.A.??

“Outstanding service and meal.”

Beautiful ambience, considerate wait staff and terrific food made this a special dinner experience. Tiger shrimp appetizer, duck, scallops, halibut and catfish entrees all delicious and creme brûlée and bananas foster dessert capped off an unforgettable meal.

“Fine food and fast service.”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

Went for wife's birthday, a romantic night out. The food was delicious and the ambiance was warm and relaxing. On a busy Saturday night the food came out quickly and warm, we didn't have to sit and wait and wait on our appetizers, entree, or desserts!
