“Lovely!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014

This is a beautiful, grand hotel that is situated in gorgeous old Pasadena surrounded by beautiful estates. Everything from the water at check in, cocktails by the pool, very comfortable beds and attentive staff, it was a great oasis after a hot day in L.A. Highly recommend.

This hotel lives up to the global langham experience. We stopped off here for one night on our way to Mexico. We were shattered from travelling and arriving here instantly relaxed us. The beds are so comfortable and the hotel and grounds are so big that you feel like you're in a resort. You could get lost going from the swimming pool to the spa and back to your room.

Room Tip: Choose one that doesn't overlook the pool as that can be a little noisy.

Thoroughly impressed with Langham - from our arrival up until the point we checked out. They were incredibly professional, courteous, and very accommodating. We had been given two rooms on what was supposed to be a renovation wing. While we couldn't find much that we would have wanted altered, they were kind enough to give us $45 per room to the Tap Room.

Pluses - I am sure I am leaving some things out, but a few keys are:
- the atrium/pond area with a beautiful family of ducks moving around
- large swimming pool with plenty of chairs and shaded areas
- Lots of lounging areas to sit and play cards or just talk
- incredible views from our room of the garden area
- patio with table and chairs outside of our rooms

Minuses - I am really nit-picking here, as they are not really knocks on the resort as much as they are things I happened to see.
- cigarette butts left by outdoor patio - probably not the maid's responsibility to clean the outside, so let's blame idiot guests who can't find a trash can!
- Breakfast buffet ended at 11:30. It was kind of hard getting up on a Saturday morning, and we just made it to the buffet. We weren't the only ones as quite a few guests walked in after us. Perhaps this is because the room was being set up for a wedding luncheon, but this could have been better communicated.

If travels ever bring me to the LA area again, I hope to enjoy this resort once again.

Kudos to Gabriel (Front Desk), Chase, Alvaro and Jennifer (Concierges) on going above and beyond!

Room Tip: We had a garden view room on the first floor which also gave us a nice outdoor patio to enjoy. The...

It seems almost redundant to add yet another glowing review on top of all the others here, but I was truly impressed during my recent two night getaway. The hotel is luxurious and immaculate and service is outstanding--this is the standard that other luxury hotels try to reach but can't quite get there.

I reserved the cheapest room category and ended up with a "limited view" king in the Lanai Wing, a separate building connected to the main building by a bridge walkway. The room was not exactly spacious but since I was by myself it was not an issue. It might be a bit tight if you put a rollaway in there and the bathroom was a bit small. But everything was clean and well maintained. The bathrobes and slippers were a nice touch and the toiletries were excellent. I actually liked being in the Lanai Wing because it felt a bit more private. I was on the ground floor and looked out onto some bushes and a small road but it was quiet and didn't bother me. And the rate was quite reasonable compared to chain nonresort properties in the area.

When I checked in it was very hot outside and my room AC wasn't working properly. After a call to the front desk, an engineer came within 5 minutes, determined that I needed to change rooms, called the front desk, went to to check out the new room, and moved me down. That's the right way to handle a room issue.

The highlight of the hotel for me was the pool area. The pool is large but the area feels intimate, with beautiful landscaping and soothing music piped in. The pool bar has a barbecue in the summer months, and the Terrace Restaurant overlooks the pool area and serves three meals a day. I ate two breakfasts and two dinners there and found the food excellent. The service was a little uneven--long wait for the waiter, wrongly placed orders, etc.--but the people were so nice and the setting so beautiful that it was hard to get upset. The hotel gardens were also beautiful to stroll through. The new gym and spa is in a separate building and the fitness room has all the latest equipment. The common areas in the main lobby have many seating areas like being in the living room of a mansion.

Not much to dislike except perhaps $25/night for valet parking (no self parking). A small price to pay for the level of luxury and relaxation this hotel provides.

We stayed at the Langham for the couple of days leading up to/after our wedding. The service was superb--they upgraded our room to a corner suite and laid out rose petals and chocolates on the bed! They also gave us a voucher for a free meal at the bar. The decor of the hotel is gorgeous, and the the grounds are expansive and peaceful. I felt a little out of place as someone who doesn't make six figures, but it was delightful nonetheless.

Great hotel, great food, definitely recommend. Location was perfect for us. We never had stayed at a Langham and will return. Beautiful property. Staff was excellent. Because we stayed at the cottages we were far from the property but had the privacy. It made it a bit difficult for luggage to be picked up at our departure

A beautiful hotel, historic and lovingly maintained. Located in southern Pasadena among gorgeous homes, this hotel is a real star especially with a business rate. The employees seem to be proud of the hotel and after just a few nights, I am recognized by name. The pool is my favorite-olympic sized and clean, very private in the morning.
