“The best hotel I stayed in”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2009

It is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in! We chose it for the first leg of our honeymoon and were absolutely astonished how well we have been received. The room had the best bedsheets I have ever slept in (after returning home, I actually bought new bedsheets to match that standard!). The staff was exceptionally friendly. We stayed in this hotel over the Christmas period and I cannot describe how beautiful the decoration in the hotel was - we really felt the Holidays... The location of the hotel is a little way from the centre of Pasadena, but the hotel runs a luxurious shuttle service to town, which is very reliable. There was always complimentary hot cider, tea and coffee for you while you waited either for your car or the shuttle - it was such a nice touch! I think, if you are going to LA, rent a car and stay in Pasadena. The surrounding houses of the "old money" will take your breath away, the town centre offers everything that downtown has to offer (inc. Tiffanys!), and the hotel is a real hidden gem. I wish I was there now..

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful LA suburb with super helpful staff.
The staff can't do enough to help you, the facilities are first rate, the rooms are gorgeous, and the whole experience was unforgettable.

Only two comments; it ain't cheap (a mandatory $25 per night for parking sets the tempo), and the location is only compensated by the complimentary minibus into town.

But overall, I loved it, and if I could I'd visit there every year.

I stayed at the Langham in Pasadena, CA a couple days for Valentine's and it was an exceptional experience! The hotel staff was sooo nice that my boyfriend and I wondered where they were trained. Everyone was friendly and happy to help with anything. We were on the 8th floor so we had a beautiful view of the mountains. Plus, we were on the club level which served light delicious appetizers served throughout the day, which was really really good! We also had massages at the spa, which was to die for! This hotel is heaven on earth!

This is a classic and luxurious hotel that has the castle outside look with a traditional inside feel that has a hint of modernness.

Pasadena has the drier weather and is perfect with the grassland that is almost breathtaking if you are in the front. Inside and the back, on the other hand, has the restaurants, pools and a couple gardens that are nested intimately.

Service was phenomenal. Everything is taken care with respect, politeness but not too distant. It makes you feel special from checking in to the properly carpeted room that features a marble bathroom. The room was of standard size but perfectly quiet and overlooked the Horseshoe Garden. The Japanese Garden is simple and more for a retreat. They also have a very nice ballroom with chandeliers which would be a perfect venue for a small party.

Amenities were ample with good shower head and bathtub. I felt totally pampered. The bed was soft on top but firm underneath. Perfect thick curtains made me sleep like a baby even with the bright sun outside! The overall bedding was light and room temperature was just right (I usually have problems with hotels and such that need a lot of adjustments on the temperature.)

Had the afternoon tea there for brunch. They were all very fresh and delicious, especially the pastries. The creme brulee and coffee pastry were my favourites. The Assam Gold Leaf tea was good compliment though they must order a new set of teapots that would not drip to the bottom when you pour. Good teapots will have a more curved and pointy spout!! And they should probably make the tables either without the thick table cloth or more space with the chairs. It's a bit congested sitting there even with my slim figure.

They also have validated parking (I think usually it's about 30 dollars) if you eat at one of the restaurants. So even it's $40 per person it's totally worth it!

My stay was very pleasant and think it would be a great spot to host tradiitional and intimate such as close friends and family events.

I stayed with a family member at the Langham Huntington Hotel prior to a cruise back in March 2008, and was very impressed with the hotel. First of all I was able to get a great price (I am a travel agent and they had a promotion for agents going on). Normally I cannot afford a hotel like this.

One caution is the make sure you have GOOD directions, or a GPS, as it is VERY confusing to find the hotel, especially at night. It is located in a very residential section of Pasadena. It's a beautiful neighborhood, and we were thankful that we paid extra at Hertz for their GPS.

Our room was quite spacious with a nice patio. The bathroom was gigantic, with wonderful amenities that were replenished daily. Breakfast outside by the pool was memorable and the waitstaff was very friendly. I also loved the fact that they had a business center with free internet access. Often these fancy hotels don't offer free internet access. That was a nice bonus.

This is a grand old hotel with beautifully manicured lawns and gardens. There were always workers bustling around, keeping the place spotless and beautiful.

One small complaint was the parking situation. There was NO self parking, so we had to pay for valet parking. We could have just as easily parked ourselves in their parking garage, but that was not allowed.

Other than that one small complaint, everything else about the hotel really was perfect for us. I can't wait to return!!!!!

  • Liked — The wonderful breakfast outside by the pool.
  • Disliked — Having only one parking option - valet parking.

stayed here New Years for the Rose Parade/ Bowl. Booked on Expedia for exact cost as hotel's site, but they were stated sold out. Upon check-in, our room was ready but hadn't cleared inspection yet. Also, snide comment made about booking through Expedia during check-in. Not appreciated. Waiting for room not a big deal, we walked around & had drinks/lunch at bar. Room was spacious and clean. Had awful view overlooking roof of laundry area, covered in dryer lint. No iron/ board in room. Had to call housekeeping twice to provide items that should have been in room upon check-in. Some kind of inspection prior to check-in! Dinner for New Years Eve in Terrace (more informal) restaurant was good, but service, again, lacking. No water refills,no bread offered(as other tables had), not very attentive to needs all in all. if you have expectations of quality service and quality staff for price paid, you may want to reconsider this place.

Upon check in we were upgraded and then decided to upgrade further to the club level. Our room was located on the seventh floor with a wonderful balcony overlooking the valley. The club staff was wonderful. Attention was paid to every detail. The food was delicious. The pool area was very serene. The spa was a wonderful experience.

overall staff was very attentive. The langham was beautiful. Everything was perfect. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

  • Liked — The club room staff were wonderful.
  • Disliked — The airconditioning could have been a little cooler
