We were in the Paso Robles area, visiting several wineries that had been recommended. Halter Ranch had not been one of them, but we stopped in anyway and I'm so glad we did. The tasting room was not crowded and we had Ray as our host. He was very knowledgeable about all the wines and is a chef to boot so gave us some tips on what food to serve with each wine. We liked every single wine we tasted, both white and red, which is extremely unusual for us. We were so impressed that we even joined their wine club! We had come from Tablas Creek which I would skip next time in lieu of Halter Ranch. They are very eco-conscious to boot and store and use their own water and the winery is a built around a gravitational system. Just a great place all around!
