We have stayed at over a dozen rental homes in Paso Robles over the past 3-4 years. This is one of my favorites. The location is an easy walk from "downtown" Paso, across Spring Street from the central park, and on a street that is rapidly filling with cafes, bars and restaurants. The wonderful Il Cortile restaurant is directly below! It could not be more perfect or centrally located. It is so centrally located, we were worried there might be a noise problem, but thankfully, there was not: between Paso's generally quiet nature and adequate soundproofing, it was perfectly quiet. The rooftop space is very nice, and I could see sitting out there on a warm summer evening.
The accommodations themselves were modern, clean, and very comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you might need. My one gripe is with the number and location of the light switches, particularly in the master bedroom. There were so many, we sometimes found us switching on all the lights, to find the one we wanted!
The only reason I can't give Moonspinner a five-star rating is we had a problem with vibration from the restaurant's exhaust fan from Il Cortile. It really shakes the rear bedroom when it is on, and the other guests could not sleep. When I opened a kitchen cabinet, the dishes and glasses were all shaking so hard, it was like a scene from a creepy movie. Fortunately, the restaurant crew finished cleaning not long after midnight (it was New Year's Eve), and the restaurant was not open during the rest of our stay, due to the holiday. Of the four adults in our group, one said he would not stay at Moonspinners again because of the rattling; the rest of us were willing to give it another chance. (Il Cortile normally closes at 10pm, so the vibration shouldn't be a problem for normal stays.)
One other glitch was that when we arrived, the front gate was locked, and we were unable to enter. However, a quick phone call took care of that, and within minutes, someone was there to let us in. I'd be cautious though, if arriving late at night, or in severely inclement weather!
Overall, I would give this Moonspinner condo a 4.5 star rating. It's darn-near perfect. If they fix the vibration problem, I would give them 5 stars.
We live in SLO County and have a "staycation" in Paso every couple of years to enjoy the wineries and restaurants. We stayed at this apartment with another couple.
First, the good. It is a block of the square, so the location cannot be beat. It is upstairs from Il Cortile restaurant, which is sure convenient! Our friends stayed in the master bedroom which was street side, but said there was not much street noise. There is ample street parking. The place is spotless. The outdoor courtyard is nice. The roof top deck is a plus, but we didn't use it. The AC works well. The reservation and confirmation process was very smooth. The keyless entry is very convenient.
Now some suggestions. The fake flowers/foliage around the apartment really detracted from the otherwise nice decor. The pillows in the Queen size bedroom were awful. Bring your own. There was a coffee pot and filters, but having coffee available would be nice.
Finally, there is a steep staircase and no elevator. So probably not recommended for people with small children or those who have difficulty with stairs.
We would stay here again. Very nice.

Great location. Nice newer condo. It was easy to walk into town. My only critique would be that the bathrooms are both in the bedrooms so it's difficult to not bother others if you have more than 2 people. Also an umbrella and outdoor couches on the roof would make it even more awesome!! I will definitely stay there again.
