Owner description: Whalebone is a family owned and operated winery on the Vineyard Drive wine trail in Paso Robles, California. We specialize primarily in red wines, especially Cabernet Sauvignon. Our vineyard is 100% dry land farmed west side Cabernet Sauvignon - this is what we are most known for, along with our Cabernet blends. We produce BOB Wine, a Cab blend that has developed a cult following since Bob first created it as a home winemaker in the '90s. You can also find Paso Robles Zinfandel, as well as Paso Robles Rhone blends in our Tasting Barn.Whalebone also offers artisan Paso Robles olive oil and vinegar tastings, and we always have cheeses, salami, and local sheep milk ice cream for hungry tasters.

“Good wines interesting history”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2014

The wines were good and the staff was great. We had an opportunity to tour the vineyard and hear of the history. They have a great spot to sit outside and have a lunch. I recommend a visit and make sure to have them tell you the history of the vineyard.

“Over the Top”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014 via mobile

I visited this winery with a group of friends and it was fantastic! The atmosphere was that of family. Members of the family are the ones doing the pouring and they are very friendly and generous. I was actually sitting outside talking and had finished my wine when one of the guys came outside and said he had seen my glass was empty and that wasn't good. Where else does that happen? I will definitely go back there!

“Visit to wine country”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2014

We were in Visalia visiting relation and decided to go to the "other wine country" in Paso Robles, CA. A short drive from Visalia, my cousin recommended a few wineries for us to check out and one was Whalebone Vineyard. It's a smaller winery/vineyard down a very curvy, scenic road off of RT 46 called Vineyard Drive. The daughter of the owner was in the wine tasting room and was very congenial. Bob's wine is what they are know for. Bob is the owner. Very good wine. Well worth the trip.

“Friendly little place defintiely worth a stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2014

Perched atop a hill off of Vineyard Drive it is surrounded by big hills/mountains, but still has an excellent view of the surrounding valley. Open Daily: Mon-Fri 11am - 5pm, Sat & Sun 10am - 5:30pm the tasting room easily accommodates 10 to 15 people with room for more just outside with some patio furniture that lets you enjoy the beautiful view of the valley. Its a family run vineyards and when we visited two sisters, their brother and a spouse were manning the tasting room. It made for a very friendly family type atmosphere that was very conducive to enjoying their cabernet and Rhone blend wines. The wines were very good and fairly priced and we took a bottle of their Bob Wine, a red Bordeaux blend. We found this to be a delightful little stop and we will be back next year.
