“Beautiful Place To Relax and Unwind!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2014

This is the most charming spot! Breathtaking views. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on our patio and watching deer roam the hillside. Super quiet location that is central to wine tasting, close to the 101 for trips to the 46 east. Wonderful husband and wife owners who think of everything. Made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended for those looking to get away and unwind. We will be back!

Room Tip: Room 3 is fantastic!

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. You're right, for as accessable as we are to Hwy 101 and downtown Paso Robles you can still enjoy the feel of the country. And, located off 46 West it's just a short jump onto 101 to get to the east side.

When we (my husband and I along with our closest friends) planned a relaxing weekend getaway to the Paso wine country we were looking forward to great wine, great scenery, and a cozy B&B. Little we knew that one of the most memorable parts of the trip would be our stay at Chanticleer and the company of Carolyn and Roland.
To begin with, the rooms were as beautiful as the website pictures and then some! With cozy fireplace, the amazing soak-in tub, the comfy bed, and the beautiful patio surrounded by breathtaking views we felt relaxed, exhilarated, and refreshed.
To say that Carolyn is a great chef would be an understatement: She truly is an artist in the kitchen; she cooks with love; and is keen on ensuring you get all your proteins, veggies, and fruit with your breakfast. Roland is the other great component of their breakfast experience: his attendance and stories make for a lively breakfast conversation filled with laughs and great food!
If you thought that's were their hospitality ends you're surely mistaken: Roland's tour of the property, the warm and cuddly company of "bear" and "bonnie" (you have to go there to meet them!), and the barn all decked out in game-room style with bar, pool table, dart board, charming fireplace, horse-shoe, an outdoor (massive of a) barbeque/fireplace will sure get you in the mood to have THE BEST TIME you possibly can!
The four of us are already making plans for our return visit over the next couple of months, once you stay there it would be impossible to not yearn to go back as soon as possible! And this time we're planning on taking other couples with us too!
In short, you have to go there yourself and meet Carolyn and Roland in all their charm, warmth, and perfection acheived in a laid-back style only they know how to emulate. It is difficult to encapsulate our experience in a few paragraphs; hence the adjective "ineffable" for our experience at Chanticleer Vineyards B&B was too great of an experience to describe in words.

Room Tip: All three rooms are amazing. The only think you might want to consider is that you will access Rooms...

Green Features: Carolyn uses all fresh, farmers market produce and veggies. All the products in the rooms were organic and as an architect I can tell you that their practice is very environmentally-friendly.

We were lucky to have found this charming, inviting B&B for our holiday getaway to Paso Robles. The inn is located on a hilltop and affords expansive views of vineyards and rolling hills. The barn, a short stroll away, is a relaxing setting for a game of pool or a barbecue. Delicious breakfasts featured local eggs and bacon -- does it get any better? Carolyn and Roland made us feel like old friends and could not have been more accommodating. They recommended several wineries to try, made reservations for us at Hearst Castle and for fine dining, and shared stories of local lore. And the family pets made us feel right at home. Our stay was just the right balance: both a secluded, romantic retreat, and an enjoyable visit with fine people. We will return soon!

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! You did fit a lot in to your two day stay, and only scratched the surface of all that Paso Robles has to offer. We hope to see you the next time you explore our area.

This review is long overdue. We stayed at Chanticleer in late July. The owners are very nice, the room was large and comfortable, and there are friendly dogs and cats on the property. Carolyn made delicious breakfasts both days.

Paso Robles is great for a lower cost, less crowded wine tasting vacation.

We had booked two nights at Chanticleer B&B for the middle of a drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles, but it was such a peaceful and enjoyable stay that we added another night. Paso Robles is an up-and-coming wine area especially known for full-bodied Zinfandels, but the area is not touristy and over-developed like Napa and Sonoma. Chanticleer is a short drive to town, but in a very quiet spot with a great view of vineyards and oak trees from the rooms and terrace. Breakfast was excellent, and we appreciated the helpful dining/sightseeing suggestions from Carolyn and Roland. A bubblebath in the old clawfoot tub in the room was a treat, as well as a complementary bottle of wine and homemade cookies.

Highly recommended!

Paso Robles is a great mid-way destination between Northern and Southern California and we are glad you chose to stay with us. It was the best complement that you added your extra night during your stay. Sometimes it's that 3rd night that is needed to completely unwind. It was a pleasure hosting your stay and thanks so much for your kind review.

My husband and I just returned from a 2 day stay at Chanticleer B&B and HIGHLY recommend this place!!! Carolyn and Roland are perfect hosts - helpful, friendly, accommodating and Carolyn is an AMAZING cook!! Best breakfasts I've had in any B&B! Their B&B is in a convenient location to downtown Paso Robles and the surrounding vineyard region, and as tranquil and relaxing as a place can be.

We will definitely stay there again during our next visit to Paso Robles. THANK YOU Carolyn and Roland!!!!!!

We love the wine region of Paso (Robles); "Napa no more"...
I'm generally a large hotel guy - BUT not anymore - Chanticleer was wonderful!!! I booked my 1st B&B for my wife's BD getaway last weekend! Our suite (1 of 3), extremely private, full view of 8 acre vineyard in an Oak tree setting, VERY comfortable king bed; furnishings and decor in each room very warm and well thought out. Roland and Carolyn are genuinely warm and hospitable. Close to highway and wineries but extremely quiet, only sounds are birds chirping. It was obvious from arrival that they LOVE sharing their home and interacting with guests. From fresh cookies, teas and coffee in room to outstanding mostly local, organic breakfasts in dining room and sipping a glass of wine on the balcony it was difficult to leave each day for our planned activities, ESPECIALLY saying good-bye on Monday!!
From initial online registration, Carolyn (and Roland) were extremely helpful with restaurant and winery recommendations and bookings (and I ask a lot of ?). We cannot wait until our next stay at Chanticleer; most likely with 2 other couples (friends). Thank you - Dean & Camellia

Room Tip: All great and private but room 3 if want a private entrance (from outside) , room 1 has most windows

Thank you Dean. I'm glad Camellia had a nice birthday and that we made your first B&B experience a good one. We would love to see you both again and to meet your friends. Maybe next time you can take advantage of Roland's new all-in-one smoker,BBQ,fireplace in the outdoor kitchen by the barn. It will be done soon and will add so much to the barn/game room. It's a great place for groups to gather. Or of course there is always the front patio and back deck. Until next time :) Carolyn
