The proprietors of the Chanticleer provide a very relaxing and cozy environment for their guests. We stayed in room #1. It was perfect in every respect. Breakfasts were delicious as well. When we return to Paso, we absolutely make a reservation at the Chanticleer.

Wonderful hospitality, unbelievable breakfasts, (Carolyn's fresh made organic breakfasts would make any five star chef proud), a ten minute bike ride from 8-10 wineries, and just up the road from some of the most beautiful countryside in the U.S. The proprietor's warmth and gracious accommadation to our every want or need, (last minute massage scheduling, lending us thier bikes, travel guidance, etc), really iced a perfect stay.

Chanticleer proved to be one of those experiences we will treasure for a lifetime. Situated on a ridge a few minutes to the southwest of Paso Robles, CA, the house has a commanding view of vineyards stretching north to the horizon. I awoke and spotted a deer passing through the trees behind our bedroom.

The conversations at breakfast between the guests and the hosts were only outdone by the quality and taste of the food. Carolyn and Roland Snow are the most gracious innkeepers we have encountered, and they are more than happy to answer all of your winemaking questions. Ask about a particular restaurant and most likely they know the owner and for what dishes they are noted.

The house is beautiful and you instantly feel at home. The guest rooms are on the lower lever with separate porches. Bedrooms 1 and 2 enter through the house, down a flight of stairs. Bedroom 3 has a private entrance. The beds received high marks from both couples in our group. Almost the entire northside of the house is glass, affording spectacular views from every room. After breakfast we walked down the hill past the chickens, goat and horses. This is a working vineyard and you have the opportunity to learn a little about the art of growing wine grapes. As we walked in the fields we watched the morning fog clear and the stresses of daily life were forgotten.

Paso Robles is a trip back to a time when towns were small and people were friendly. Drive out Route 46 East to Tobin James and Chumeia Vineyards and work your way back to town stopping at Eberle and then turning right on Airport Road and going back to J. Lohr. If we had another day we would have toured the west side of 101. There are so many vineyards you should come prepared with a list of your favorite wines so you can visit the wineries and meet the winemakers.

After a day of wine tasting, head into town to the cheese shop for a tasting of a different sort. The Bistro Laurent is a small French restaurant perfect for an intimate dinner. The Lido in Pismo Beach is only about a half an hour south on 101 at the Dolphin Bay Hotel. Dinner there was exceptional and the desserts are very special...get the cheesecake!

We have the most wonderful memories of our trip to Chanticleer and meeting Carolyn and Roland Snow. We are already planning a trip in late summer or early fall to see the vines heavy with this years crop of grapes.

Paso Robles is our favorite spot on the Central Coast for wine tasting and Chanticleer has become a second home. When we're there we're so comfortable we feel like the couple in the song, "Let's Get Lost." Last time we brought a bottle of Perrier Jouet and Carolyn provided the ice bucket and two flutes with frozen raspberries. It's the little touches like this and her amazing ability to get last minute reservations at the hottest new places (try Artisan!) that keeps us coming back for more. The rooms are luxurious little suites with glamorous bathrooms --huge showers and a tub for two. Breakfasts are hearty but made with farm fresh, healthy ingredients: chicken sausage, blueberry coffee cake and more yummy choices. There's always a plate of snacks in the fridge and a bottle of wine to welcome you. Staying in is just as much fun as exploring wine country. You've got wireless, music in your room and a beautiful view. When we win lotto we're moving in with Carolyn and telling our bosses to just...get lost!

We had such a relaxing, enjoyable time in Paso Robles getting away from the usual and the Chanticleer made it possible. The place is a comfortable, charming and casual place with the most amazing food! Carolyn had fresh biscotti and cookies she baked herself waiting for us. I couldn't stop eating them. The breakfast's were so amazing that after compliment she mentioned to me that she is even putting out a cookbook!
There is a great view from our room that made us feel like we were in france, even though it was off season and the leaves weren't on the trees.
I would definately go back there again.

My husband and I enjoyed Christmas Eve in beautiful Suite # 1. Carolyn and her husband, Roland (proprietors) have shown every attention to detail in this romantic cottage. Our room was warm and cozy when we arrived, with the fireplace already blazing for us. The jacuzzi tub was a relaxing and wonderful treat. We enjoyed reading in the sitting area, with a wonderful view of the vineyards.

Breakfast was served the next morning (Christmas Day) in the dining room, with a treetop view that was just beautiful. We felt like we were having breakfast with family. If you are looking for a quiet retreat away from the fast pace of city life, Chanticleer Vineyard Bed and Breakfast is the place!

This is our second stay at the Chanticleer and Carolyn and Roland always make us feel like family. The room was nicely appoineted and the bathroom had all the spa-like amenities. The main grounds are nicely landscaped and there are trails down and through the vineyards. The house is charming, comphy and not stuffy or pretentious. We also enjoyed thier black lab (hanna?) and Molly the goat. A very friendly and relaxing place to stay if you're looking to get away.
