I will admit...the Courtyard is nice...clean...and their staff are wonderful people. However, this hotel seems to want to grab a dollar out of you for all amenities commensurate with the normal business traveler. Coffee is not complimentary...their grocery for purchase is well over 400% overpriced (for instance, a roll of Halls is $3.50), and they nuked the local wine tasting support in support of charging $10.98 per glass of wine.

They charge $4.95 per night for "premium" speed Internet versus "not so premium speed". Wonderful. Rate limiting as opposed to charging.

I travel often...maybe 200 days per year. Not my favorite stay....because of their policies. Recommend the Hampton or La Quinta. I think you will have a just as nice stay with more aminities for the same price.

Room Tip: Nothing to add regarding whether or not a good room locale is better than another.

Dear Anthony K.,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to Trip Advisor about your recent stay. I sincerely appreciate your sincere comments regarding our hotel and staff!

Your comments regarding our wine selection we have found to be very true and consistent across the board. Because of that, we are re-introducing a multitude of our local wines for purchase in our Bistro and our market. We also hope to begin doing local wine tastings on a more regular and consistent basis.

Thank you again for your feedback, you are a valued guest and we hope to regain your trust in the future.

Apparently just because you have a room reservation does not mean that they will have a room for you when you get there. I had booked for 2 nights. The first night we get there and the front desk tells me that they have overbooked and they do not have a room available and they are sending us to another hotel across town (a cheaper hotel) for one night only. He even gave me a paper to take to the other hotel indicating that it would be for one night. This was of course a huge inconvenience because we had to check out, pack the car and drive with all our luggage and everything in the car because there were hours between checkout at the hotel they sent us to and their hotel. The second night I went to check in and again they told me that they did not have a room available. They had not even made any other accommodations for us. The guy at the front desk called to check availability when I was standing there. He had no explanation how they had overbooked for 2 nights in a row or why they didn't even have the courtesy to tell me the day before that they would not accommodate my reservations for 2 nights so that we would have stayed at the other hotel for 2 nights instead of wasting time and energy going through checking in and checking out twice. The front desk was completely unhelpful in explaining how this could have happened. The manager was supposedly unavailable but I will be calling. I will never consider staying here again and would definitely recommend calling ahead if you have reservations to make sure they have a room.

This was our second time here. This hotel has great service and is very clean and fresh. It still looks new and the little café is new. It is fine for eating but the menu is very limited. We were here with another couple and the hotel was in a very good location for town and wine tasting.

Loved our stay here. Room was updated, fridge helped with our picnicables. Decent pool, Starbucks coffee, close to many wineries and downtown area. A bit on the high side for a courtyard, but wrote that off as typical for holiday weekend. Hotel was booked solid but the front desk manager helped us to get an extra night.

Room Tip: Request the west side (entrance side) of the hotel.

Stayed here 2 nights on a wine weekend. Accomodation was as expected for a US COurtyard. Small pool and hot tub out back. Rooms were clean and updated. It's about a mile from the heart of downtown with the restaurants, and has easy access to the key winery areas. I'd stay here again. Expensive for a Courtyard ($300+, something ridiculous like Category 7 on the Marriott scale)

We attended a wedding just outside Paso Robles and opted to stay at the Courtyard. We had a very nice stay and have nothing to complain about. The staff were helpful and friendly, our room was very nice and comfortable but the price... we spent $300 for just one night! For that much money I would at least hope we could get 24-hour room service!

With regards to our room, there was a very cool couch (would love to know where to buy one) that had a pull out sleeper in it, a refrigerator, Paul Mitchell products in the bathroom, safe and desk. The bathroom didn't feel cramped at all and our bed was very comfortable. The room decor had a more modern feel to it also.

We would stay here again but hopefully it won't cost us so much next time!?

We stayed at the Courtyard in Paso Robles on May 21 & 22, 2014. The hotel looks new, although I know it is not. It is very well maintained, both inside and out. Excellent check in service and front desk personnel are very good. Room was spacious, clean, well stocked with extra towels, soap, etc. Room had a refrigerator and coffee machine. There were plenty of hangers and a spacious closet area. Maid service was very good. Bathroom was exceptionally clean. The bistro served good food and coffee. While the Courtyard is just another Marriott property, the staff and management here take a lot of pride in their work and it shows.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the parking lot/hills to reduce noise from the freeway.
