“A true bucket list experience...didn't disappoint”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We were three couples visiting California in June 2014. Playing a round at Pebble Beach was a bucket list item for my husband and our friend. While we were quite disappointed to discover that a round at PB was not possible without a 2-night stay at a PB property, we decided to make it work into our budget. We were not disappointed. The most important point to mention was that we were not gouged at every turn. It was a nice surprise to have everything included, such as valet parking and tips, and mini-bar selected snacks. The valets and bellmen were very respectful and polite while refusing our tips, but appreciative when we insisted. We also took advantage of the courtesy loan on behalf of Lexus by driving around a convertible for a few hours...what a treat and loved the ride!! The other point to mention was that the staff truly respected the fact that this was a bucket list experience and perhaps beyond what we would normally pay, yet they made us feel special throughout our stay. While having a wonderful lunch on the Sticks patio outside the first hole, our husbands decided to take advantage of the "free" round at Spanish Bay links which was included in our stay but did not originally plan to play. The shuttle drivers were wonderful and informative. The bagpiper at 6pm did not disappoint either, what an experience. My friend and I played a bit of tennis while our husbands golfed, and the attendant at the tennis centre was helpful in coming out to recommend and bring us "beginner" tennis balls once she watched us play! All in all, I felt this place was worth every penny of our extra budget spend and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a true upscale experience. The property blended beautifully into the landscape and was not ostentatious by any means. A bucket list must!!!

Lovely room - nice balcony, fireplace, whirlpool tub. Great service by staff. Nightly performance by bagpiper at sunset was fun, sitting by the firepits. Beautiful setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Look for internet specials. We are on a package that included a free round at Spanish Bay if you played a round at Pebble beach, which also included breakfast and a room discount. Specials advertised on web page.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room away from elevators. We requested and got a king room.

We are a small group of golfers from Australia seeking a hotel near Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill golf courses. We had little idea of this hotel before arriving except that it is close to the golf courses. We were delighted to find that the staff were excellent, especially after we woke up to the tipping system which is quite different to the Australian way.

This is a high class hotel in an excellent and picturesque location in a very attractive area south of San Francisco. The restaurant looking over the sea is first class. The seating around fire pits on the patio overlooking the golf course and the sea is splendid. The rooms were , like the hotel, from another era but very well-appointed and quiet and comfortable. The log fire in one corner is genuine charm (and very useful for drying wet golf gear).

The price reflected the quality as expected.

Room Tip: This hotel is well off the road .......from what I could see all rooms are good but the best look ov...

We loved it here. So much in fact, we decided to get married here in 2011. And enjoy going back.
I do not golf, so no reviewing the course at all.

Dining:
You will not get a back meal at any of these restaurants. Delicious!
Service:
All staff was very helpful.
Rooms:
We have stayed at both a garden room and an ocean front room. All wonderful.
At Sunset:
Go and watch the sunset from the bar outside so you can see the bagpiper. It was so much fun.

Just back from four nights at The Inn with the family, and had to let whoever is interested know that this is a first class property with superior service. Weather was great during our stay which helps, especially in June which I hear is typically cloudy and foggy.
We are all golfers which I think helped get the most value from this trip as the courses are all great (played Spanish Bay, Spyglass and Pebble).
This time we used our hire car to get around which was great as it was our second visit as a family and we were more familiar with the roads, so it was easy going to courses, practice, restaurants, etc. in the area. The new Pebble Beach range is great and was well used by us.
I recommend taking a four caddy or caddy when golfing as they are the only people who can read the greens! Try to walk with a caddy at Pebble as it is the best way to appreciate the scenery and beauty of the place at a relaxed pace. Breathtaking between holes 4-10 and 17/18.
We sat at the fire pits twice to enjoy the company and the Piper, and being Scottish we can attest to the authentic nature of this attraction.
Some of the most happy and enthusiastic employees I have come across in the world!
Only downside is the cost, it is very expensive, but compares to other top class hotels.
Don't miss a trip around Cypress Point to see the Lone Cypress and all the lovely houses.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor facing the front of the hotel, no need for a view as you can just walk ou...

As expected for the price, the Inn at Spanish Bay is a great place to pamper yourself. We came here primarily for the golf, but as a non-golfer I enjoyed it as well. The first pleasant surprise was that most gratuities are included in your room rate, other than at restaurants and the golf course, so you don't have to think about tipping the staff every time you turn around. Valet service was prompt, and they also have a fleet of Lexus cars you can borrow for a couple hours, if you want to do the 17-mile drive or go into Carmel. The front desk has printed cards with directions to/from various local destinations.

The rooms are plush and very comfortable, with gas fireplaces & window seats (I highly recommend an ocean view) and a large bathroom with separate dressing area that had a second sink, coffee service, etc. Also included in the room rate are snacks from the honor bar (soft drinks, granola bars and Snickers, replenished daily), which also has other items for purchase. Nightly turn-down service included chocolates and bottled water.

The firepit area outside is a great spot to enjoy the bagpiper who plays at the end of each day. It's a short walk to the health club next door, which has a good selection of fancy workout equipment, an outdoor pool, and free juice and fresh fruit. They offer various complementary classes, including water aerobics, and I really enjoyed trying a mat Pilates workout that turned out to be 1:1 with the instructor as no one else showed up.
