When you stay in a luxury resort, you expect the best of everything. Very few places deliver like the Inn at Spanish Bay. The rooms were lovely, the service was extraordinary and the ground are beautiful. Sitting by the fire pits at night was a treat. A great example of the service is when my friend was window shopping at 10pm and one of the attendants came by to ask if we would like him to open the store for a late night purchase. How cool is that? Alas, the one caveat is the resort is very very expensive but if that is not a concern for you, this is definitely a place to stay.

Room Tip: The forest room I was in was a long walk from the lobby through the hotel, but a bit shorter when wa...

Top notch service, food, Atmosphere and golf. Stayed here August 2014 for three nights and golfed all 3 courses. We didn't intend to play the here at the Inn, but after arriving at 2:00 pm and walking out onto that course, just coulda help it! And got a 4:30 pm twilight rate of $150 and our wives rode with us free of charge! Another tip, if you leave for golf on the 6:00 am shuttle, you will need to get something the night before and put it in the fridge in your room. I recommend the fruit yogurt parfait....

Rooms are great, the outdoor patio experience is what makes thus place so unique. By 5:30 folks had gathered around the fire pits and soon comes the bagpipe player. Just fantastic!!!!

Shuttle services to other Pebble destinations was great. Spa was the best I have ever been to. Yes, this destination is not for the cost conscious traveler.....it's expensive but a world class experience!

We treated my Brother in law to golf for his 60th birthday at Pebble Beach & Spyglass. Initially, I was not aware that you had to stay within the Pebble Beach resorts in order to play Pebble. (you can also try calling last minute for a cancelled tee time, but since we were flying in from out of town, taking that chance was not a option) My husband choose Inn at Spanish Bay for our 2 nights stay. It is an 'investment' to stay and play there, however Spanish Bay accommodations did not disappoint. Being a special occasion, the Inn upgraded our rooms to oceanfront (we had reserved oceanview rooms). Our rooms were on an upper level, with balconies overlooking the first tee and the Pacific Ocean. Views were magnificent, almost spiritual. (for maximum benefit and enjoyment, you MUST get an ocean view or ocean front room) Bagpiper played at 5:45 each evening right below us and on first tee box and along the fairway. To see and hear 'America the Beautiful' played on bagpies on the first tee, overlooking the ocean, was awe inspiring and something I will never forget. Goosebumps. Rooms were well appointed, as they should be, with every amenity you can think of. (However interesting sidenote: Rooms do not have air conditioning, but circulating fans worked fine and kept the room comfortable) King bed very comfortable. Loved the balcony. Did not use the fireplace. Large sized hair and body products, robes and fully stocked bar & fridge. 'Free' snacks and sodas & water, and for-charge alcohol. Staff all around was attentive.

I would categorize the style and feel of the resort as 'Comfortable, relaxed, high end California casual, with some elegant flare in the lobby and common areas. Great boardwalk paths that lead from the resort to the ocean. Loved walking the beach early on a overcast mornin. We enjoyed Roy's for dinner at sunset, along with the seating and fire pits outside. As compared to Pebble Beach Lodge accommodations and grounds, I much preferred the Inn at Spanish Bay. (P.B. Lodge was much busier and, to me, perhaps a bit more 'uppity') Was able to fully relax and enjoy the grounds, views and rooms at Spanish Bay.

Golfers side note: Played both Pebble and Spyglass - foggy off and on, but that is to be expected along the ocean. Perhaps a noon or later tee time may give the fog more time to burn off. Guys played at 10 am and 8 am.

Bucket List. Check. Loved it.

I recently stayed at the Inn at Spanish Bay for 4 nights starting on July 12th. We had an upgraded oceanfront room that cost over $1000/ night. The view from the room was spectacular. Unfortunately the room was dated and the lighting was inadequate. The furniture was old and sparse. The living area was good sized but there was only a fabric covered love seat and and armchair to the side. The cabinetry in the bar area, dressing area and bathrooms was very plain. The windows are all old and difficult to open and shut. It required a lot effort because the crankshafts were difficult to operate. The carpet in the room also seemed old and musty. The common areas in the hotel are all dated and the furniture also looks old.

The fitness room was totally inadequate and quite disappointing. The area is crammed and poorly designed. There is one small area for free weights and stretching that can barely accommodate more than one person at a time. The entire gym is covered with regular carpet which had a a very musty smell instead of a gym flooring.

The overall service at the hotel was excellent and the staff was very attentive. I would not stay here again because of the quality of the rooms and the common areas/ fitness area that are well below the threshold that one would expect from a luxury resort. We spent our last three nights at the Ritz at Half Moon Bay and the St Regis in San Francisco. Both were outstanding and both had the luxury one would expect for rooms costing in the $1000 range.

We were three couples visiting California in June 2014. Playing a round at Pebble Beach was a bucket list item for my husband and our friend. While we were quite disappointed to discover that a round at PB was not possible without a 2-night stay at a PB property, we decided to make it work into our budget. We were not disappointed. The most important point to mention was that we were not gouged at every turn. It was a nice surprise to have everything included, such as valet parking and tips, and mini-bar selected snacks. The valets and bellmen were very respectful and polite while refusing our tips, but appreciative when we insisted. We also took advantage of the courtesy loan on behalf of Lexus by driving around a convertible for a few hours...what a treat and loved the ride!! The other point to mention was that the staff truly respected the fact that this was a bucket list experience and perhaps beyond what we would normally pay, yet they made us feel special throughout our stay. While having a wonderful lunch on the Sticks patio outside the first hole, our husbands decided to take advantage of the "free" round at Spanish Bay links which was included in our stay but did not originally plan to play. The shuttle drivers were wonderful and informative. The bagpiper at 6pm did not disappoint either, what an experience. My friend and I played a bit of tennis while our husbands golfed, and the attendant at the tennis centre was helpful in coming out to recommend and bring us "beginner" tennis balls once she watched us play! All in all, I felt this place was worth every penny of our extra budget spend and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a true upscale experience. The property blended beautifully into the landscape and was not ostentatious by any means. A bucket list must!!!
