We've stayed at this property many times and we feel it is loosing its luster. The property itself is unchanged, but it just was not very pleasant during our weekend stay between Christmas and New Years. It was so busy, none of our requests could be honored (top floor and corner suite). The complimentary breakfast room was so full of guests, we could barely get to anything. There was one vacant table outside, and there was a screaming little girl being ignored by her grandpa. We took our food to our room and skipped the breakfast room the next two days.

It was quite warm during our stay and our room heated up, since it faced the ocean. We needed to keep the balcony door open at night to stay cool enough to sleep (no A/C). On our last night, some careless guest decided to smoke a cigar on his balcony (not allowed), and the stench came straight into our room. I finally called management and he said he'd try to find out who it was. Basically, we could not enjoy the features we paid for.

When I was checking out I asked if they found who was smoking on the balcony, the receptionist had heard nothing of it. She apologized for the inconvenience, but did not offer a discount or any other concession.

After spending nearly $800 for a 3 night stay, and feeling like we could not enjoy the amenities, I think we will not return. This used to be a favorite place for us, but it seems to attract people who are inconsiderate now. With so many properties to choose from, who needs this?

Room Tip: The best rooms are the ocean front corner suites, third floor. The corner rooms have extra windows i...

Thank you very much for the feedback of your stay with us. I can't apologize enough for the problems that you experienced during your stay and would like the opportunity to make this right for you. We have a strict no smoking policy and the staff does react quickly to complaints. We are fully aware of the fact that smoke travels and affects multiple rooms and balconies so that is why we are strict with our policies. While the morning clerk probably wasn't privy to all events the night before in regards to smoking, it was a failure to dig deeper into why you were inquiring. I'm sorry that the breakfast room noise bothered you but we are a family friendly hotel and the week between Christmas and New Years offers families an escape to the beach. I am also sorry that you feel the property is loosing its luster. We have made several upgrades including adding over 100 HD channels, a new lobby check in experience, a new pool deck, and will be adding new carpets this year. I would like the opportunity to make this right so please contact me at the property at your earliest convenience. Thank you again for the feedback and Happy New Year.

We officially agree this is one of our #1 fave hotels ever. It was great having the separate bedroom and kitchenette. It was adorable, the bed huge and so comfy. We had a balcony that opened right to the ocean and it's a great stroll to downtown along the beach. There's great activities on site, too, and we can't wait to bring our son back to enjoy it like we did! This is one of those jems, and we'll go back, promise. This place has earned its great reviews.

I stayed six nights the week before Christmas. I think it was probably a once in a lifetime treat. The winter rates were great, the weather fantastic, and the sunsets unbelievable. What I paid for the oceanfront room I saved in dinners by picking up a bowl of clam chowder or other delicious meal and enjoying it on my balcony as the sun set - no need for an expensive restaurant to enjoy the sunset view. After dinner I would curl up with my Kindle to enjoy a good read with the waves crashing in the background. The town was really dead except for Saturday night, so there wasn't much nightlife to enjoy. Watched the dolphins go by each morning about 9 AM.

Parking was free and convenient. There were plenty of places to visit and things to do, but the best was probably simply walking the beach. Breakfast was basic, with waffles, sweet rolls, toast and bagels, cereals, juices, milk, fruit , yogurt, etc. Would have loved some plain yogurt.

The room itself was spotless. The bed was very comfortable. Good selection of pillows. Furnishings were tasteful and fit the environment. Plenty of storage even for a family. Comfortable robes provided. Heat, refrigerator and microwave all worked well. Staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Although I could hear the footsteps above me and on the walkways, it was not a major problem - the views and the suite itself made up for it. Of course, the place was also not very busy at that time of year. There were some large families around, though, but I never heard much of them.

I really cannot express how much I enjoyed this part of my trip. In fact, my blood pressure was 20 points lower at the end of the week.

We stayed for 4 nights in the Lighthouse Suites in September 2013, using it as a stopping off point, as many people do, between San Francisco and LA.

We booked an Ocean Front suite, which was suburb. Spacious bedroom and lounge, 2 bathrooms, coffee maker, microwave and fridge. The balcony had room for a small table and 2 chairs and was in the sun for a large part of the day. The rooms had character with various lighthouse themed accessories. The ocean view was fantastic; on 2 of the mornings, there were hundreds of seabirds feeding from the ocean - if you have some compact binoculars, take them with you.

The self service breakfast was okay but not the best feature of the hotel. The pool and hot tub would occasionally get busy but we always found a good spot for sun lounging. I would describe Pismo as a *walking" rather than "sunbathing" beach. You can walk into town via the beach in the early evening, and either walk or get a cab back later when its dark. The roads (not the Freeway) have pavements and are well lit for most of the walk back. Avila Beach is a short drive away and a good location if you fancy a few hours of beach sunbathing - you can rent beach chairs and parasols from the local shops.

We liked this central coast region - it has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The Lighthouse Suites is a great place to say, and the Ocean Front Suites provide superb accommodation at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Book an ocean front suite if you can - and take your binoculars.

We stayed here for one night to break up a drive from LA to San Francisco. Room was relatively cheap and would suit a family due to the second bedroom. We had a lot of noise from adjoining rooms as they were loud and walls are thin, as well as people upstairs stomping around. Probably best to stay top floor here. Parking is free and breakfast was good, Cesar in the breakfast room was friendly and helpful. Would stay again, but in a better room.

We stayed overnight. We had a two bedroom, two bathroom partial ocean view room for our family of five. The room was great, very big, nice and clean, great views. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Very reasonable rate that included breakfast, internet and parking. Would definitely stay again.
