This was our second trip to Pismo Beach and the second time we stayed at Oxford Suites. I really like this place because it offers nice, spacious rooms and resort-type amenities at a great price. To find a two-room suite at a hotel with full breakfast and a nightly cocktail hour for around $100 is to hit a jackpot. That's exactly what we found, plus a pool and jacuzzi to boot.
The rooms here are nice. Each room is the same with a living area that includes a corner sofa, table and chairs and a large console with flat-screen television, sink and refrigerator. The living area is comfy and the sofa converts into a bed. Our bedroom had a flat-screen tv, sink, closet and a king bed. The bedroom was quite comfortable and spacious. The bathroom had a tub with shower.
This hotel is very family-friendly. It's two floors are spread out over several landscaped acres. The adobe-style outer decor is nice. Check-in is smooth and efficient. There is a small snack shop located behind the front desk. The lobby has several over-sized comfortable chairs for relaxing, and the connected lounge hosts the nightly social hour.
The Oxford Suites daily breakfast is above-average. From hot entrees like scrambled eggs, sausage and pancakes, to waffles, toast and bagels, to fresh fruit, cereals, and coffee and juices, the hotel offers a great selection to choose from. The breakfast room is rather small, and gets very crowded and chaotic. You may think for a moment that these guests have never eaten a meal in their lives. After you endure the feeding frenzy inside, you might want to take your food to one of the several outdoor tables, or better yet, to your room for a quiet meal.
The pool area is nice, with a swimming pool, wading pool for the kids, and a jacuzzi. The pool opens a bit later in the mornings than I would prefer, and often fills up with families for most of the day. If they opened the pool earlier, more people would be able to enjoy it without all the kids.
Oxford Suites is located next to Highway 101. It's not super close to the beach, but all of the Pismo, SLO and other sites are a short to moderate drive away. We have visited Hearst Castle (1 hr), Morrow Bay (30mins), Solvang (45mins) Avila Beach (20mins) and San Louis Obispo (15mins), all from this hotel.
Whether it's overnight, or for a few days, you will enjoy the Oxford Suites in Pismo Beach. It's a very nice hotel at a great value.
