“great hotel for stopover between San Francisco and LA”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

We stayed here to break our road trip between San Francisco and LA. The hotel was nice and clean, the room was spacious. The pool was great. The hotel was well located for shopping and a few restaurants were close by. Not a great deal to do in Pismo Beach but if you want a rest on your road trip this is a great place to stay. Very good breakfast, one of the few locations on our trip where there was enough seating. The evening reception for adults was a nice touch, and we enjoyed a complimentary glass of the local wine.

The staff was very helpful and welcoming. They were very willing to accommodate all of my needs. We wanted rooms in an easily accessible area that were also quiet. They provided us with a diagram of the entire hotel and were able to find us the perfect rooms. The staff was very kind and patient.

We stayed at this property 3 nights during the busiest weekend of the summer in Pismo Beach (annual Portuguese Festival). As such, we paid a high rate for weekend nights ($224) in a family suite - bedroom with 2 queens and sitting area with a sofa bed (just FYI - try to avoid this weekend if you're not attending the festival).
Seriously, the staff was outstanding. From the front desk to housekeeping to the folks who man the breakfast buffet. Every single person was cheerful, helpful and seemed really happy at their job. A tremendous atmosphere.
This is definitely a three star property, but the staff gives it an extra star! That being said the rooms are really, really dark. Brown furniture, brown carpeting, brown everything. Makes the unit feel dank and vaguely dirty (even if it's very clean, which it seems to be). The bathroom is super tiny. If they brightened up the furnishings and had a bit larger pool, this could be a four star property.

Room Tip: As for a room on the top floor - it's got to be a bit brighter.

I stayed here with my granddaughter in suite with two queen beds. We were both very pleased with this find. Every staff member we encountered seemed as if they were glad that we were there. Very professional and personable. Everything was very clean, both the room and surroundings. The entire site was beautifully appointed with all upscale furnishings. A beautiful outdoor area, including the pool, was well maintained. A reception included two complimentary cocktails and substantial appetizers. A made to order breakfast was served in the morning. For the time of year, the location and the condition of the site, I think the price was very good?

Stayed at the Oxford Suites in Pismo Beach for a family event taking place in town. Several family members also stayed here. All rooms are suites with a bedroom and living room. Although there were too many of us to use the rooms for gathering they have a very nice patio outside of the breakfast area with tables, chairs and also patio heaters which we utilized at night. They offer a cooked breakfast that is predetermined (not made to order), while not a restaurant, was good. The evenings offered a two drink/person beer or wine along with a soup/salad bar. This was OK, the wine wasn't a brand I would purchase and the salad bar was very basic. I noted they enforced the 9 pm curfew (which was clearly posted) for children in the pool. I'm glad to see that as some hotels don't. The hotel is well kept; the room was clean, and staff very friendly. Next door is a Denny's and the outlet shopping was within walking distance. If you want the beach, it is a drive and there is no view from this location. For the cost of the room which included the food it was a very good value for the area. Especially if you have kids then it is an excellent value.

Room Tip: The pool can be noisy with kids, but they did enforce the 9 pm curfew for kids and made them exit th...

I had to stay at another hotel during summer peak and was back for the first time in a month. It was great to be back at my go to property on the central coast. I always have the best night sleep there and the free hot breakfast starts the day right.

We recently stayed at the Oxford Suites, Pismo Beach, for a family wedding/reunion. We had 2 of the King Suites, featuring a king size bed in the bedroom and a queen size foldout sofa in the living room area.

First I want to comment on the staff, from the front desk to the people working in the breakfast room. All were very friendly and customer service oriented.

Our rooms worked out great. Being a suite there was a sink in the bedroom area as well as the living room area. Though there was a mirror over the fold out sofa, I would have liked to have had one near the sink. There was also a coffee maker, a nice size refrigerator and a microwave.

A full size breakfast comes with your room. Each day they did mix up a few things on the menu but most of the basics (breads, cereals, juices, oatmeal) were always available. You could eat inside or out on the patio.

They also serve up a manager's happy hour and have soup and salad also available at the same time.

The location is great, right off the 101. There is shopping, gas stations and restaurants nearby.

I would have no problem staying here again if I were to come back to this area.

Room Tip: book your room early to get great rates!!
