“Beautiful”
Reviewed 15 August 2012

Gorgeous hotel with fantastic rooms all sea facing, swimming pools and hot tubs, breakfast on the patio. Got a great deal on this place, way exceeded my expectations.

Breakfast had a large variety and only a short queue. Dining in the sunshine with the sea view topped off the stay, wish I could have been here longer. Nice to see smiling staff on reception who were very helpful

Room Tip: They all look good, all seem to have sea facing views

Thank you for your nice comments about our hotel. You are right, it is beautiful. Lately, the whales and dolphins have been spotted off our shore. And as you know, the weather has been magnificent. We hope to see you again soon.

Just stayed there with my parents and siblings and our families. It was GREAT!!! My only complaint is the small breakfast area. They need to think of a different layout. Unless you got up early, the line took up to 20 min.

With Valley Temperatures in the triple digits, my family decided a short trip to the beach was in order. I discovered that the SeaCrest was having a special: stay two nights and save 30%. The room was listed at $268, but we would get it for $188 each night. I called and spoke to someone because I had a question. When I made my reservation, I asked the person to not put us pool side, but could we have one of the rooms elsewhere? He said yes and that he made a note of it. When we got to the hotel, we were given a room right over the patio area poolside. While most of the rooms we saw had little bars with two stools, ours did not. It was a large room, but inside only had one chair to sit in and a chair at the desk. We have two children, but there was no place to sit. The entire front of the room was empty so it could've easily had a couch or loveseat there for people to sit on.

The breakfast area is way too small for the number of rooms and guests. It really consisted of some bagels, toast, pre-made waffles, dry cereal, boiled eggs and a few muffins and pastries. Both mornings we were there it was cold and foggy, yet there is no indoor seating at all.

I was surprised that there are no public seating areas inside except for a couch and two chairs in the tiny lobby. When it is 57 degrees in the morning, my 3 year old doesn't want to eat outside, and there was no place in our room to eat except the desk...

While I have highlighted the bad things, there are many positives. The pool was good sized and clean, with a wading area for toddlers. The hot tubs are well maintained as well. The landscaping is stunning and well done. They have croquet and badminton set up for guests to use free of charge.

The website is slightly misleading when it says that to access the beach you just need to step off their back lawn. To get to the beach you must climb down some old wooden steps. The steps are in good condition, but pretty steep for small children.

The Staff were very friendly and overall the hotel was very clean. It has been remodeled in recent years and the remodel is good.

It's my opinion that the hotel is probably overpriced by 20%. For example, the room we had was priced at $269 regular price peak season, but it was probably worth $200. It wasn't our first choice, but we enjoyed our stay and we would stay there again if we had to.

Thank you for your recent review of our hotel. I truly appreciate the feedback because it helps us learn and improve our guest services. I completely understand the limited indoor seating especially for breakfast. On beautiful warm days, we have considerable outdoor seating, however when it is cool, this is not as attractive. Thank you for staying with us. I do hope you will stay with us again.

We have stayed at the SeaCrest a number of times. The property location is great - close to restaurants, pier, easy access to freeway, beach - and the view of the coastline is wonderful. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. We love the coffee and cream provided. We do not frequent the breakfast buffet but it appears that many guests enjoy the cereal, pastries and fruit. That said, I must report that the property has really "gone to the dogs". We are not pet owners and don't particularly enjoy other people's dogs. It seemed as thought the entire bottom floor was occupied by guests that had one - or more - dogs and they were everywhere throughout the property. Some were well behaved - others not so much. Noise from the dogs was kept to a minimum which was nice - nothing worse than a barking dog! We do believe that SeaCrest tries to keep the same pet friendly rooms, but we were on the second floor and our carpet was stained and sticky. We always take flip-flops on our vacations and this time we had to wear them at all times while in our room- generally not the case for the hotels we book.
We do understand that this is a beach hotel and expect some dust and sand. However, this trip makes us wonder if we need to investigate other properties in the area. We will probably give it another try because of the location and request rooms as high as possible to avoid the animals.

Room Tip: Ocean front rooms are sunny with a great view. If you want to use your balcony with some shade choo...

The SeaCrest was the third out of five hotels we were stopping at during our honeymoon in California, it was easy to find and the rooms were great! The view was amazing, better than we'd hoped for, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Free breakfast and wifi, plus a choice of three hot tubs! Even better, the hot tubs were open until 11pm giving us plenty of chance to unwind after a long days driving, whilst listening to the sound of the ocean, just feet away! I'd definitely stay at the SeaCrest again, we were sad to leave!

The room was very clean and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful. Great beach access. Our family really enjoyed it. We did not have time to use the pool or spa but it looked like fun. We had a very nice deck with ocean view. We will definately stay again. The free parking and complimentary breakfast was great. Only complaint is the only place to eat breakfast is out on the patio and the morning we were there it was freezing.

Stayed here for 2 nights and wish it could have been longer. Big rooms and very clean. Bathroom products a treat. Reception were really helpful and kept checking to see if we needed anything. Breakfast was good and plentiful and cookies and the herbal treat a treat. Diner attached to the hotel was good value. Rooms are non smoking. Free parking in the grounds We had a side sea view, nice to catch sun shine. The gounds are lovely and was nice to sit in the jacuzzi and overlook the sea. Around lunchtime everybody appears to be on the move so w had the pool to ourselves. Would love to go back next year.
