“Great views but falls short!”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

In fairness, it's a very busy time of year in Pismo. We ended up in a double queen end unit close to the highway. We got a room with a balcony, and the way the hotel is situated we could also see a peek of the ocean so were happy. The bad news is we quickly realized their was no AC. Opening the windows barely helped and in doing so we could hear every bit of roadnoise imaginable. The toilet also leaked all night so the next morning we asked the front desk about moving and paid to upgrade to ocean front hoping that would help. The views are beautiful, but ironically there is no ocean breeze to cool your room unless you also open the room door. Even that doesn't cool the room. We slept with slider open and one night there was pot smoking on the balcony below us, 2 nights we heard people on the adjacent balcony talking at 12:45 am. And you can't close the slider without it getting really stuffy (high in PB was 79 during our stay, so it wasn't even very hot and hard to cool down the room)

On the plus side they have nice philosophy product and waffle robes. Housekeeping was very nice.

On the minus side there are no in-room safes, laundry bags or AC - normal hotel amenities. The pool was in an odd place compared with the SeaCrest or Best Western and was very cloudy so we didn't use, but did use the very hot jacuzzi.

The breakfast for $5.95 includes applewood bacon, 2 eggs and pancakes. Such a bummer that you can't substitute their awesome sourdough toast, you have to pay $2 extra. Apparently all the bread is made there and it's a highlight.

We normally stay at the SeaCrest Hotel and have also had a very good experience at the Best Western Cliffs and would definitely stay at either of those places over this one. It's not that it's not trying to be nice, it just falls short.

Room Tip: Ocean front is the only way to avoid 101 road noise. There are only 2 levels in that building, so g...

Easy to find, excellent location just off the main road. quick efficient reception staff. Accommodation is block format, parking outside the room. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the swimming pool. The room was massive, clean and tidy, small balcony, bathroom was equally as large. Beds comfortable plus Wi-Fi with excellent tea & coffee making facilities. Ice machines on each floor. Enjoyed a lovely meal in the evening at the restaurant, sat outside with outstanding views of the beach, sea and sunset. Breakfast is highly recommended. Quality accommodation at an affordable rate. Highly recommended. Petrol station next door with small shop attached was useful.

My family and I stayed here as part of our first stop on our PCH road trip. The view from the room is unbeatable and the beds are pretty comfy. We didn't get a chance to try the restaurant but it was always packed and had great entertainment at night. The cleaning staff and the front desk staff were always friendly and made us feel welcome. Would definitely stay again :)

We stayed one night on our way back home to San Diego. The room had no air conditioning which was disappointing! I was awakened by our neighbor above us when they started the shower. It scared the heck out of me! it was so loud! The room its self was fine comfy bed and pillows and clean. This stay would have been great if there was air, a view ( we were on the street side) and some isolation between rooms!

Thank you for staying with the Spyglass Inn. We appreciate that you enjoyed the cleanliness of our rooms. Our housekeeping staff works hard to keep a very high standard of cleanliness. It was unfortunate that the heat wave made your stay uncomfortable. Please contact me directly to discuss your stay so I may resolve it to your complete satisfaction. Jason Gentry 805-773-4855.

I could honestly say this is one of the better hotels I've stayed at and a very memorable trip as well. We had an amazing room on the first floor over looking the ocean. The room was filled with towels and amazing bath products. My boyfriend ended up taking me down on the beach and proposing to me after 4 years of being together! It was an amazing few days and we will definitely be returning. The only thing I wish to be improved on the hotels part would be to provide air conditioning for the guests and not just the employees. The restaurant was awesome and since it was my birthday they gave me a free piece of cake. It was such an enjoyable experience!

Really did not spend my vacation sitting in the room or by the pool,But when I do it's always good to be here at the Spyglass Inn.Great location to the beach (not crowded) and across the street great Deli food available to 2200 pm and the ride to Avila beach is close and on the way stop at the working farm for some great farm fresh produce to snack on.And if your there stop at the old port and eat at Fat Cat's all in the area.

Room Tip: There's ocean view room's if you plan to sit in your room and there's pool view room'...

For a rate of $251 per night I wouldn't expect an ocean view room. That said I would expect a gracious and courteous welcome to the property. Please lower your expectations. If you would like a property that is slightly above a Motel 6, coupled with a staff that should not be in the hospitality business, this is the property for you. The check in was robotic and compliant with no personal connection or welcome. What a miss. There are so many great hotels in Pismo Beach, and for your consideration, I would recommend Dolphin or Cliff. Regardless of your decision, shy away from the Spyglass,
