We stayed in Betty's Cabin at this Inn. It's very comfortable and has a nice rustic quality. It is equipped with a wood burning stove, has a neat little kitchenette, comfortable bed, and functional bathroom. Everything was clean and tidy. It's in a beautiful wooded setting adjacent to the lodge and other buildings that are part of the ranch/inn. The host is an entertaining and knowledgeable guy who also cooks up an amazing, hearty breakfast. Eggs, waffles, incredible bacon, huge berries. One of the best we've had. An easy 10 minute drive from Placerville. My wife likes B&Bs and was very happy here. I don't particularly like B&Bs and was very happy, too. A pretty special place.

Room Tip: Betty's cabin affords more privacy than rooms in the lodge.

We've stayed here twice! We stayed here for the first time 3 years ago in October. It's about 4 miles off highway 50. Best to go during the day as there isn't much light.

We arrived around midnight and the owner's son met us and showed us our room - had the heater on, a nice touch since it was freezing! They told us to check in the next day as it was late. We rented Betty's Cabin and it's the only cabin on it's own in the back. It's larger, has fire heater, large armoire, table/chairs, and king bed. Separate kitchen area (fridge, sink, microwave) near the bathroom. Lovely "cabin" decor. There isn't cell phone reception or wifi and no tv/radio so it's a nice place to detox digitally and enjoy nature, read. Manicured grounds - hosts weddings and banquets on the grounds.

We stayed again this past October for our anniversary. We stayed in the Carpenter Suite (the suite behind the front one above the cool cellar/bar.) Queen bed, nice setup, with small fridge, coffee maker, and a few cups/plates. Armoire to hold clothes, table and 2 chairs. Outside table and 2 chairs.

Breakfast is cooked each morning. If there are other guests, you may sit with them. We had grits with sausage and fried egg on top, pancakes another day, and our most recent stay, had waffles, eggs, bacon, fruit/yogurt

Taxidermy all over, so beware.

We toured the upstairs 2 rooms (one is a loft) and another room to the side (bathroom is downstairs.) Overall we prefer the cabins, Betty is most private but all cabins are nice!

Ate at Tijuana Taqueria (right down the street) for a quick dinner. Good food, nice portions, salsa bar. Older building and doesn't appear to be much from the street, but inside, felt and tasted authentic. Close to Old Town to explore and also very close to Apple Hill (if in the fall).

We love our little spot! Your host, Jim, is super nice and a great host. We forgot to get cookies so when we departed he baked us a fresh batch of cookies to take with us. Delicious!

Room Tip: Betty's cabin is all by itself, other cabin is nice too. Call to book.

I took my Mom (75) and Aunt (80) to Placerville to visit the place their parents lived until they passed away. My Aunt had some memory issues and so I wanted to make this stay special for her. We were greeted by a very happy dog with a ball and a very warm host. We loved the pride they took in preserving this wonderful homestead. Even the wildlife knew that this was the place to be! Jim Davies prepared a wonderful breakfast each morning, tailored to the guests' individual preferences. We have been visiting Placerville for almost 30 years and this is the next best thing to staying at my Grandparents' house. We stayed 3 nights and will definitely be back.

Room Tip: No TV or Wifi. The cabins are more suited for couples than families. There are no bad rooms, but the room and loft in the main lodge has a down-stairs bathroom.

We love this venue! Weddings and family reunions in a historical foothill location are amazing! And the bonus is that there are also cabins for rent on the property. The cost are low and the owners are kind and friendly. I recommend it to everyone I talk to.

This is a wonderful place to get away from it all. The property is amazing. We arrived late and Jim left our key and cookies for us. Our room was lit and warm on the chilly fall night in Nov. we arrived. Each day we stayed we saw deer in the meadow right outside our cabin door. A huge plus for a nature lover such as myself. Fall color was everywhere and I got some great pics. Jim was amazing and saw to our every need including a great breakfast and many suggested outings. Our cabin (Raffetto) was small and cozy, but don't expect a TV, hair dryer, or telephone (no cell reception). the cabin had a great wood stove, plenty of firewood and beautiful fresh flowers. This was a truly peaceful and lovely stay. I would like to stay again and try the larger cabin for a little more privacy. Loved everything about this place.

Room Tip: Liked the cozy raffetto suite in carpenter's cabin a lot all rooms quiet
