“Great hospitality.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 November 2013

Glen Morey comes very high on hospitality but is let down by being somewhat jaded around the edges. We were in the Edinburgh Room which whilst comfortable was rather dark and oppressive. This could really be improved by lightening the colour scheme. The over abundance of bric-a-brac could do with 'culling' as they only act as dust gatherers.

This lovely old house could be so much more if the level of cleanliness (grubby carpets, dust and cobwebs) was raised and the garden area given a facelift. The guest lounge is welcoming and comfortable but here the former comments apply also.

All this aside we had a pleasant stay but would like Glen Morey to raise its game with a few improvements. It deserves to be so much better.

GlenMorey is a neat old house with all the comforts of home. Tom took great care of us, but we still felt like we had the place to ourselves. The breakfast was GREAT and would easily cost you 35 to 40 bucks for two people downtown. If you do want to go downtown, Placerville is only a 5 minute walk. The house is conveniently located, but is on a hill surrounded by trees, and feels very private, no traffic noise at all. You would think you are in a mountain retreat with no one around for miles. We highly recommend GlenMorey to everyone! Staying here will be a highlight of your trip.

Cheers,
Matt and Dawn

Gracious hospitality, a great bed and deep relaxing tub in the St. Andrews Room. We were ready for a quiet couple of nights and got that and more. The innkeepers accommodated our request for vegan breakfast and we were delighted both mornings. Ali even made yummy vegan cookies for us! Maggie served our second breakfast with real Scottish charm. Tom directed us to a walking bridge into downtown Placerville where we took an evening stroll and bought a bottle of great local wine. We were charmed with our experience at GlenMorey and plan to return. Their mid-week special pricing was a real value for this lovely, cozy inn.

The location of this inn couldn't be better. Quiet and surrounded by trees, and a short walk to downtown Placerville, with its historic main street full of interesting shops & restaurants. We were welcomed by Tom, who is funny and sweet and knowledgeable about the area. The room was beautiful with a marble mantle, and a day bed in addition to the queen-size bed. All very comfortable and clean. Really nice to have access to a common area, with comfortable couches and board games. We had a great time here and will come back soon!

GlenMorey B&B was such a wonderful place to stay. The owners were so charming, and I got to meet the whole family! The B&B is a 5 minute walk to town where all the shops and restaurants are (I recommend Z Pie).
I stayed in the St. Andrews room. My room was so nice and comfortable. The bathroom was nice and big, and it was lovely to take a nice hot bath after a day of shopping. The breakfast was delicious, and there were cookies out for nightime munching!
I will definitely be back!!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely!

We had the house all to ourselves for the 1st night of our 20th Anniversary long weekend. The house is close to downtown and we had a pleasant walk in the cool crisp fall air to dinner. The room was cozy and the shower was nice & hot! My husband was thrilled there was internet. All a great way to start our next day. Tom gave us directions to the Apple Hill area were we found lovely scenary & many apple treats. His youngest daughter Charlotte was our breakfast hostess for a bit and she did a lovely job :) Iwould recommend this B&B to coupes and families looking for a comfortable, cozy place to stay in the Placerville area.

GlenMorey is a fantastic B&B...the St. Andrews room is wonderful -- comfortable, clean, furnished tastefully. Very tasty breakfast and the innkeeper Tom is a delightful host...friendly without being intrusive and knowledgeable and down to earth. We loved playing with their puppy Lucas and enjoyed relaxing on the porch. The inn is within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants on Main St. in Placerville and an easy drive to Apple Hill farms. All in all a wonderful weekend thanks to Tom and his graciousness and outstanding and charming inn.

Room Tip: Don't miss the caramel apple french toast!
