“Nice hotel, but in dire need of a facelift”
Reviewed 17 October 2006

Stayed here in September for a wedding and trip to the A's game. We got a very sweet deal on their internet site for $60 per night.

Pluses...very comfortable beds, large room, complmentary coffee and Sunday paper, "free" internet (see below), very nicely landscaped grounds.

Minuses...hotel is in need of a makeover. There is a display in the lobby that indicates a remodeling is coming, none too soon. Our bathroom had a huge crack in the floor tile. The bathtub caulking looked very shoddy. The stairway outside building #6 was visibly rotting and was creaky. We wanted to enjoy Sunday morning on our balcony, but the furniture was not cleaned. While there is advertised "free" phone service and internet, every room has a mandatory communication charge. It wasn't expensive, but annoying particularly because we didn't use either the phone or the internet. This is a weird thing, but there is actually a room #666. We stayed next door in #668.

The location is very nice. Just off the freeway, but in a quiet location. BART is nearby, as are numerous restaurants. I'd consider staying again, but after their remodel.

Many of the Four Points I've been to are dumpy. I know of a few that are outstanding (Phoenix and Norwalk CT).

When the Sheraton website offered this for $60, I figured what the heck. On arrival I was pleasantly surprised.

Beautiful grounds. A large condo type swimming pool.
Our room was much larger than other Four Points. Think Sheraton/Hilton instead.
The room was beautifully decorated. My wife was impressed.

You can take BART from the Oakland airport. That's another plus.

I'd go back on my next trip.

  • Liked — beautifully decorated room, and large
  • Disliked — nothing

This hotel is an old property that appears to be run by management in a customer insensitive, profit maximizing style. One is confronted by the nickel-and-diming right from check-in, where one is told that there is a mandatory access fee to use of the telephone! (even if one is not planning on using their telephone system). Outrageous and insulting to customers!

The money-grubbing attitude of the owners is further manifest in the already worn out (tears, stains, fraying) of what is supposedly new Four Points furniture. Really? Without the benefit of the hotel literature, I would have assumed the furniture to be a decade old. Further, the heavily-promoted free internet feature -- a major reason I stayed at the hotel -- also did not work most of the stay.

My room had musky, tobacco odor that was suggestive of rotting animal matter. Noise levels were extremely high as 1) rooms and doors have very poor soundproofing; 2) the hotel caters to loud parties; and 3) hotel staff are perpetually dragging rattling dollies on their uneven brick floors.

The staff is friendly but incompetent, which was simply not enough to save all the other shortcomings of this miserable lodging.

Stayed 1 night in May 2006. It's a good hotel (and a good value at my corporate rate). There's a restaurant on-site that I did not use. Several 2-story buildings with inside hallways. Staff was VERY courteous and very helpful. High speed Internet access was flawless. In a room with a king bed, the room was still very spacious. One sink in bathroom. Not a new hotel but well maintained. Services not extensive. Lots of commerce, especially restaurants of all ilks, nearby. Has shuttle to nearby office park and destinations. Easy to get to...near junction of 2 interstate highways. Interior grounds were an oasis surrounded by the bustle (ponds, stream, fountains, flowers). For serenity, ask for inward facing room...lower floor has walk-out for each room and upper floor has balcony.

I stayed in this hotel on 2 occasions once in Dec 2005 and again in February 2006.

Both stays were great.

The staff really makes you feel welcome and feel like a true Guest of theirs.

The rooms are of decent to big sized and the bathrooms are large.

The only negatives are that you can tell its an remodel of an older hotel, but its a good remodel and there isnt a washer/dryer on premise

Its one of my favorite hotels in the area.

Free HighSpeed access is a big plus along with free parking for everyone.

Stayed overnight at the hotel for a job interview directly across the street. Service at the front desk was excellent. I felt welcome the moment I arrived. The hotel is located in a business park on a busy street. However, the grounds around the hotel were very relaxing. At no time did I hear any of the surrounding traffic noise. There are several restaurants in the immediate area for a variety of prices. Also, just one stop down the freeway, I found an entertainment complex with shops, cinema and more restaurants.

I settled on this hotel via Priceline. But, if I had to do all over again, I would choosen this hotel with or without Priceline!

Solid 3 star hotel - nice room and grounds, but not a lot of amenities.
Positives: Beautiful grounds - lots of fountains and flowers, and a nice pool. Nice room, clean, good size, decent furniture, the patio was very nice. The restaurant was excellent!!! I highly recommend it for dinner. Free internet in lobby, which was great for checking email while away.
Negatives: The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable, but they said they're replacing them all. I couldn't find the ice machine at night, which was odd.
Note: Staff was great, very friendly and helpful. We left something very valuable in the room and didn't discover it until the day after checking out. We called and they had already found it and put it in the safe before we even asked about it. Kudos to their staff for being so honest!!
I would gladly stay there again, once they replace the beds and pillows.
