“Awesome Beach”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

This is a great area to walk along the beach, it is expansive and glorious in our opinion. No dogs are allowed (we have a dog so are sensitive to such things) on the beach as it is a breeding ground for the Snowy Plover, an endangered bird.
The California State Parks system originally had this location slated for closure but it has since been saved and is open year round. There is camping available but we have not stayed in the campground so cannot speak to it.
If you are in the Point Arena area, say visiting the lighthouse and you pass by it is definitely worth a stop, the stroll along the unspoiled beach is worth it if for nothing else but to see the incredible array of driftwood.

“wide open”
Reviewed 27 November 2012

We used to go there a lot, but when the state closed some parks and stopped servicing others, we decided to stay closer to home. One thing I liked about this beach is that you can take a very long walk along the shore, it's very expansive. No bathrooms, just an outhouse.

“Grey Whale Watching”
Reviewed 5 November 2012

Walking along the beach, we were followed by two grey whales that were feeding and enjoying the sunny day. Also seen were seals and seagulls. The beach is a beautiful walk amidst much driftwood.

“An awesome beach”
Reviewed 9 August 2012

Miles of beach. A few surfers, a lighthouse in the distance. Seals swimmin off shore.

No services on the beach. But a small restroom at the small parking lot.

“Remote wild open space”
Reviewed 19 July 2012

Manchester Beach is unique to our coastal area because of it's long swatch of sand. Most of the beaches in this area are pocket beaches, surrounded by rocky headlands or outcroppings. This wide open wild beach gets a lot of wind and wild weather, making it less crowded than many other California beaches. Beautiful drives to get there, either from the north or south on Highway 1. There's a campground for those who can enjoy a longer stay, but I always enjoy going for a day trip - beach combing, and being open to any surprises in weather.
