Owner description: Heidrun Meadery produces brut dry, naturally sparkling, single-varietal mead(wine made from fermented honey) using the traditional French Methode Champenoise. Along with world-class meadmaking, we have a beekeeping operation and a bee forage cultivation program. Our tasting room is open 7 days a week. We offer Tours & Tastings by reservation ($15), Tasting Flights ($10), or mead by-the-bottle or by-the-glass on the patio. We recommend calling ahead to make a reservation and be sure we are not closing early for an event, same day reservations are accepted.

Mead is the name given to a drink made from fermented honey. It has been part of European history since well before the Middle Ages, and the Heidrun Meadery carries on the fine tradition of making mead. The twist they add is the addition of champagne bacteria to make the drink sparkling mead. A boutique meadery, as far as size of bottling, Heidrun is worth a stop and tour when visiting Point Reyes Station.

Following a lead when UC Davis created a course in Mead brewing we found this. A little hard to find as the owner does not want any signs but well worth it. A very relaxed setting where we were able to sample the superb selection of Meads. Take your own picnic and bask in the great view out towards Tomales. They charge for a tour but you can just buy a glass or a bottle and enjoy the patio. Also farm fresh eggs!
