“Thanksgiving stay at Ferrando's”

Absolutely lovely property. Immaculate, many thoughtful touches! Doris' baked goods are special--not just sugary dough stuff, but yummy textured whole grain treats. Refrigerator ready with eggs and milk and cheese. Fruit on the counter. Very quiet out here. Great coyote chorus last night. Lovely hot tub, super clean. Flowers and garden. I loved the generous number of towels provided. The wood stove worked great. The kitchen here is a real kitchen. An ambitious cook could be happy. Only suggestion --I kept looking for a comfy reading chair and never found it. The big circle chair in the bedroom is not really comfortable.

We recently spent two nights in the bungalow and we were amazed with the peace and tranquility this place offers. From the smell of jasmine as we soaked in our hot tub to the hummingbirds that "hummed" as we enjoyed breakfast on the private patio to the wonderful homemade goodies delivered each morning - this place was the perfect way to start our vacation in California. Thank you Doris and Greg for such a relaxing and enjoyable experience - we will definitely be back!!

Room Tip: There are only two places to stay - the bungalow or the cottage. You can not go wrong with either!!

It's hard to imagine finding a spot with a huge room, private outdoor area with grill, hot tub, delicious morning treats AND feeling like you're away from it all. Ferrando's Hideaway manages to deliver everything.
Our room was spacious and comfy, we loved the spacious kitchen (and we had a smaller room), our grill and outdoor patio and hot tub.
The morning goodies were delicious and we were given so much food that we brought the leftovers to our friends who live nearby.
We can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: Ask the owners if you need anything. They MAKE this place what it is.

We spent six days recently in the Alberti Cottage. The cottage is quite spacious, with a full-size kitchen, full-size bedroom, walk-in closet area, and a bathroom with twin sinks. There are two outdoor sitting areas with wood tables and a hot tub. We tended to hike in the park in the morning, and then hung out in the sun at the cottage in the afternoons. (It was fog season). You are in your own world here and can be as private as you wish.

The highlight of the stay --- apart from the quality and privacy of the accommodations --- was Doris' baking. Each day she produced some amazing treat for breakfast, including muffins, blueberry scones, cinnamon buns, and a fruit crumble, plus fresh-squeezed orange juice, fresh berries, eggs from their own chickens to prepare as one wished, and homemade bread for toast and sandwiches. If you are interested, Doris will happily give a tour of their amazing garden and bakery set-up --- they could run a commercial bakery if they were so inclined.

For those who must connect with the outside world, the wi-fi setup was very reliable and domestic calls are free from the cottage phone (which is super helpful because cell phone service is spotty).

The one tiny draw-back is that there are no views from the property. But it is a five-minute walk along back roads to a view of the sunset over Tamales Bay.

All in all, a wonderful place for a quiet stay in Point Reyes.

Room Tip: The cottage has significantly more space than the bungalow. Having peeked into the bungalow towards...

Our stay at Ferrando's Hideaway could not have been better. Topnotch accommodations combined with a personal touch from Greg and Doris made our vacation memorable...we won't be staying anywhere else when we are in the Point Reyes area...many thanks to Greg and Doris for designing, planning and operating a first class facility...it was an honor and a privilege to briefly be a part of their values and lifestyle.....We particularly enjoyed the tour of the vegetable garden, the chicken coop and the breadmaking facilities...

This review is a bit delayed as we stayed at Ferrando's a couple months
ago. Our experience with Doris and Greg's lodgings was so crucial to our
enjoyment of our vacation that I have felt like I owed it to Ferrando's to
write this review.

First, we did not like San Francisco. Which was a huge surprise. By all
accounts, it should have been our kind of city. Won't go into a great deal
of detail about that, but suffice it to say we were not motivated to see
most of the places we'd planned to after spending a few hours there. We
were shocked at how crowded, filthy and unpleasant this "world-class" city
turned out to be. So we called Doris and asked if by any chance we could
come a day early. Yes! Thank the Maker. Our trip was saved. Goodbye S.F.,
hello idyllic Point Reyes Station and surrounding environs. Doris and Greg
saved our vacation from being a nightmare.

We managed to stay in both the cottage and the bungalow due to our early
arrival, and you can't go wrong either way. Both are supremely private,
clean and built with the highest quality craftsmanship possible. The fresh
eggs, home-baked goods, and homemade jams cannot be overpraised! So nice.
The Wi-Fi is excellent, no problems there. The grill, hot-tub and patio
area are amazing. And Doris and Greg are sweet, helpful and accommodating
without being in your space.

There is zero chance we will consider any other lodgings when we are in the
area again. We feel like we found the best on our first try. Thank you,
Doris and Greg!

Room Tip: You can't go wrong with either one; Cottage or Bungalow.

I spent a full month researching places to stay in the northern California area for an anniversary celebration trip. I read through reviews like this one and contacted many of the places to get a feel for them. Ferrando's looked great, but the price was on the high side of our budget, so it was with some trepidation that I booked our 4 day stay with them.

In looking back on it now, I find it hard to believe they do not charge more for this little slice of heaven. All the excellent reviews you'll read here, including this one, cannot do Ferrando's justice. Here are just a few of the truly amazing things about Ferrando's:

* LOCATION. We wanted to hike, bike, kayak, and tour the wine country. Ferrando's location, about .5m from the lovely little downtown of Point Reyes Station, is an ideal spot for the start and end of each day. Great parks like Muir Wood and Pt Reyes National seashore are just minutes away. At night, we ate at several of the town's outstanding restaurants.

* ACCOMODATIONS. We stayed at the Bungalow; perfect for the two of us. I was worried the owner's house would be right on top of us, but it is set back 100' or so from the Bungalow. You don't even notice it. People were staying at the cottage next door, but we didn't hear so much as a peep from them. It was as secluded and quiet as we had hoped for. The Bungalow was nicely appointed and has an oh-so comfy bed. Two TVs and Wifi are there if you want them. At night, we would sit out in our hot tub (which is right outside the bedroom and was already warm when we showed up), take in the night sky and call back and forth to the resident owls. The fridge was stocked with farm fresh eggs, cheeses, coffee beans, and milk. The attention to detail - including the inclusion of everything we could have wanted - was amazing.

* PEOPLE. Doris and Greg obviously love each other and love what they do. They know how to take care of their guests. One of my favorite parts of our trip was getting up each morning and finding a picnic basket full of fresh-squeezed OJ and still warm breads and cookies that Doris had just made. What a treat! When I somehow lost the key to the Bungalow and offered to pay for a new one, I received a no worries, no-charge response. They knew we wanted privacy and gave it to us, but were warm and friendly when we stopped to talk with them. Absolutely lovely people.

I never write reviews. But this time, I just had to. I don't know when, but we will be back to visit with our new friends Doris and Greg and spend some more great times in this Shangri-La.
