We are from So Cal and this is a secret in San Francisco. We brought our 15 yo son. We all enjoyed it so much. Incredible place to go and gorgeous views from every place you are. The islands history is amazing. Go up into the light house day and night and the view ---WOW - the light is SO bright at night. A must do. The number of guests is 10 plus 2 innkeeper. Its very friendly and welcoming. You have a lot of space to relax and enjoy the views . The inn is spectacular. Nicely renovated for all of us to enjoy, very clean and comfortable beds. The food was very, very good (homemade -outstanding). There was enough activities for my son to enjoy and explore. So so much to see . Highly recommended and must do in San Francisco. Thanks to Jude and Richard for making our stay #1.
The Fog Horn activity is very interesting and fun!!

This is a great getaway. The property is very nice and comfortable; innkeepers are wonderful. Welcome hors d'oeuvres delicious and the dinner was also delicious. It was fun eating dinner with the other guests; liked them so much we stayed up playing games. Highly recommend this as an overnight. Bring earplugs, the foghorn blows constantly and if you are sensitive to sounds this would be annoying. Our bed was super comfortable (San Fran room). The boat ride over was quick. The tour of the lighthouse was informative and fun. I would not hesitate to do this again. Simply wonderful!

It's Amazing that Folks pass this Hidden Treasure on a Daily Basis and have no Idea of the prospect of relaxation and solitude that awaits...Yes on this Small Oasis....
Having the California Coastline at our Disposal and checking off all the Lighthouses on our Bucket List we spotted East Brother Light Station...After Visting the Web site....
We decided to plan a "Day" visit to check it out...It seemed that it was booked every time I looked for Openings....Soooo after almost 6mo...we finally landed a much awaited reservation...I did my usual Google search/Map Quest/Yelp and found a few
Tips that were helpful...Not that we Don't like Adventure....ha ha ha ... Probably the main tip I would offer is Don't take a sports car down the wagon trail to Point San Pablo Yacht Harbor...You are passing through a Old Military Base/Chevron Oil Refinery That I'm sure they would rather not have you driving on anyway....Once you arrive after Following the Signs to the "proper path" you find yourself in sort of a back in time feeling at the marina..
Park in the Lot directly ahead of you and take the Path to the "private parking" to access the waiting area for the Water Taxi...On our visit The Galley Cafe was closed and was being painted...the Taxi loads/unloads directly in front of the Cafe....Capt Richard arrived right on time with the previous nights guests/Luggage Unloaded and we exchanged Life vests and boarded the Taxi (max of 6 guests) for a short scenic boat ride (keep your Camera out)...It was Low tide so we got to Climb up to the Light station Dock and Capt Richard raised the Taxi via a elaborate winch and passed our belongings to us...Up the stairs we asended ...On the same path that many a Lighthouse keeper walked before us,next to the stairs is a smooth slide they used to winch supplies up from the Dock...A tour was started by Capt Richard who changed hats and became Innkeeper Richard,we briefly went thru the Fog Horn Building with a promise to return...Then into the Lightstation to tour the rooms and grounds, water catching system,a brief History lesson, Introduction to Richards Partner in Innkeeping/ Chef Jude who was preparing the rooms for the next wave of guests at 4pm.... We then returned to the building housing the FOG horns,a lesson on Lighthouse Life back in the day,a explanation of Lighthouse lens and then all of us helped Richard start the Diesel engine/Air Compressor to sound the FOG horns...The sound was so deafening even plugging your ears your core shook ! ! after sounding the fog horn 3 times Richard released us to explore the Island on our own...we were able to climb the circular staircase to the top of the Lightstation and stand out on the balcony absorbing the view in ALL directions...Snapping Pictures every chance we could...During our visit the weather was perfect and we only needed a sweat jacket...Due to the positioning I would Highly suggest dressing in layers if the the weather is questionable...Our Picnic Lunch seemed to taste even better in the salt air,Let alone the smell of Jude's cooking whisping thru the air...Lots of different spots to sit and take in the sights both private or on Picnic tables with the other visitors....The sea life is very active and Chartered Fishing boats from Pier 39 like the channel between the 2 brothers which can be very entertaining as you have a Front row seat for the aspiring anglers...
Our Day trip went by waaaay to fast and we promised we'd return for a overnite experience...

One of the most romantic places we have ever been. The staff is outstanding and extremely helpful. The food was homemade and very delicious. The peacefulness was superb even with the foghorn. Even though it is a historical landmark and an operating lighthouse, getting the treatment we did makes us want to return again and again.

A fantastic location for couples, a unique and stunning venue for a wedding or a group of friends.

We spent one night with four other couples, dining with all of the guests was quite fun, we met some interesting people. There was an engagement during dinner! The food was simple and the flavours catered to a wide range of tastebuds. Standing at the top of the light house was very romantic and and it's always fun to test a fog horn. The hosts made us feel like we were at a friends house without imposing.

Tips: take a nice bottle of wine, pack warm clothes, a book (although I didn't read mine) and check out my pictures for driving instructions.

Room Tip: Walter's rooms is small, quaint and offers more privacy than the bedrooms in the main house. All...

We stayed here recently for 1 night for a special occasion. The B&B was full with 4 other couples. It was a unique experience, taking the small boat over to the island, the tour about the island, chatting with the other guests, dinner and breakfast. We had absolutely picture perfect weather, so I think that made the stay even more enjoyable. We had the Marin room, which (in our opinion) was the nicest room in the house. There are new innskeepers and they are still working out the kinks. The food portions were small, but okay. The tour of the light house was just okay. They do like to pour the wine! Overall, a fun and romantic experience and would recommend.

We rented the entire B&B. Since dinner and breakfast are communal, you'll be sharing your meals with others on the island if you don't rent all five rooms.
The hosts were very friendly, the lighthouse was fascinating, the building and furnishings were charming and very clean although a little dated. The food was extraordinary but I hear there will soon be a new cook so this may not be predictive of the future.
It was so much fun seeing this little part of the bay that very few get to see. The entire experience was wonderful.
(Be forewarned that there is little water so you can't shower unless you stay more than one night. Also, there is a vertical ladder from the boat to the dock and the water is often choppy so this is not a trip for people with mobility problems.)
