What a wonderful time I had at the Olde Bull Inn. I spent two weeks in one of the cabins and was pleased with the space and cleanliness. Everyone, from the owners, to the staff, and waitresses was courteous (Thanks Jade!) and helpful. The food was extraordinary and the Draft selection in the Bar was exemplary. Overall, the prices were reasonable. OH! you have to do the walk by the River/Canal in Barton Mills, absolutely gorgeous; you can walk into Mildenhall along the river and walk back through Barton Mills.

We stayed just one night as we were visiting family nearby. On arrival we had a lovely warm welcome. We came down to the bar area which had a relaxed friendly atmosphere, we had a light bite to eat which was freshly prepared and very tasty, just what we needed after a long journey!

We booked a feature room 'Daisy' which was good, quirky wall paper! Ensuite had a super drench shower, they also had the forethought of putting another shower attachment in for us ladies not wanting to get our hair wet!

The owners Cheryl and Wayne were superb hosts and always at hand, nothing was too uch trouble all staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Full English breakfast was delicious, had obviously gone to a lot of effort to make sure all elements on plate were tasty. Cooked freshly so takes a little time, but hey it's worth it.

The whole atmosphere of 'The Olde Bull' was lovely, the owners have done an amazing job on turning this once tired coaching house into a fine place to stay, as it deserves to be. We will definatley stay again. I am amazed that this is the owners first venture into the hospitality world, they are doing a sterling job with a super friendly set of staff around them. Good luck on your continued success.

My partner and i first visited this hotel in April last year. We have been back a few times since, we have always been on our own and used it as our get away from the stresses of daily life.
We went back last month with our daughter who is four, who they went above and beyond to accomadate.
I cant reccommend this place enough, the food is brilliant (including the childrens food)
Its probably also worth saying the breakfast is amazing.
and as for rhe bad customer service reviews. I would say that these must be from other small hotels in tbe area.
The old bull cant be faulted

Booked for one night as we were house hunting in the area , we were a little concerned that because the hotel was just next to the main road that it would be noisy but we slept like lambs. The food was better than we expected and the staff were polite and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

We didn't stay at the hotel as it is local. We just went for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was very nicely decorated, serving staff very attentive but not annoying and the food was delicious. I am really struggling to find anything negative to say. The only minor niggle I had it that the roast potatoes coudl have been better, they wre a bit tough and the potatoes tasted a bit old.
Other than that, truly excellent all round!

You hear some good reviews about this place??? so we have visited twice now, the first time it was terrible, so went back again on a different day a few months later in case it was "chefs night off" !!

So the service was great, very friendly staff :-) THAT'S ALL!!

We are happy to pay for good food but this place is an expensive Joke!!

The duck starter came on a stupid small piece of slate, my food just kept falling on the table, and I think the recession may be hitting the kitchen as they were short of bread and chutney? There was nowhere near enough for the amount of duck, but for a few extra £'s you could get some bread!!

Same with the mains, on the first visit I had a not very well cooked steak (well overdone), with the chips falling off the edges of the stupidly small plate.

The second time I had the local Denham estate lamb (£16), It gives a bad name to local lamb, could not eat it all as it was too fatty and chewy!! At least the plate/bowl was big enough. The biggest problem was it had been burnt so the flavour soured the whole dish as the sauce must have been made in the same blackened pan...

The first two courses were poor so we thought a dessert might salvage the night but £6 for a DRY chocolate brownie, with no sauce and a small peice of ice cream!! Its a Joke

There are far better places to be found locally, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.

Dear CurryClub123

We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the location, cleanliness & service - in fact so much so we received 4 out of 5 in all of these areas, but we're very disappointed that you then went on to give an over all average of 1 out of 5..... Where I went to school that would be at least a 3 :-)

I am rather concerned about some of the accuracy in your review and would be most grateful if you could contact me direct on 01638 711001 and provide more information eg: when did you dine with us?

Our lamb dish is £20, and we have never served chips on the plate , they are always on the side in a separate bowl, our steak plates are large, we also serve chocolate brownies with sauce on the plate. There is never an exception to any of these points. We would also provide additional complimentary toast & chutney if you had asked a supervisor.

We actively encourage feedback whilst guests are still with us so that we can do everything in our power to ensure the dining experience works for you. Nobody has bought any of this to our attention.

I very much look forward to hearing from you.

Cheryl Hickman

Came to the resturant here last night and had a fantastic meal. The atmosphere was superb and the staff were excellent. We had Jade as our waitress and she was very helpful. The food was some of the best food that i have tasted in a very long time. We went as a date night and have decided that we will make this a regular trip.

The meal was just wonderful and the service was excellent. I would absolutley reccomend the Pork fillet on the resturant menu and the Sticky toffee pudding. What a fantastic evening and a wonderful meal. thank you so much guys. Stacie
