After a few stressful months, my wife and I just wanted a bit of time on our own...away from the kids for a few days. The fact that we have three kids means that we don't have too much money to spend on luxuries! We found The Old Bull Inn online and it sounded very reasonably priced and looked quite nice, so we booked it for a couple of nights.

Upon arrival the place looked as quaint as it did in the pictures, so it seemed like a good start. When we checked in we were pleasantly surprised with the way the staff were. They seemed like a fun bunch, and they just made us feel quite relaxed. Our room was really nicely decorated and well set out ,and had pretty much everything you would expect. The bed was a bit bigger than we're used to aswell, so that was a bonus.

We went down for dinner that evening, and started with a drink in the bar. The bar had apparently been fairly recently renovated, and it did look very up market. The food we had was absolutely first class, and the service was to boot.

The next day we ventured into Newmarket and then Cambridge to experience a bit of horse racing history and student life. We quite liked Newmarket, so we decided to venture there again that evening for dinner. Whilst it was quite nice, we wish we'd stayed in our hotel!

All in all, the time we had here was great...very chilled, relaxing and romantic. I thank the staff there, as it was them who made it the way it was for us! Well done in creating such a nice atmosphere...we will definitely be going again.

We have used the Olde Bull on a number of occasions both for informal and formal functions. On each occasion we have experienced friendly and attentive staff, great food and a wonderful atmosphere where the customer comes first.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel and it restaurant to any of my friends or colleagues in the sound knowledge that I know they will enjoy their stay, the service and the food.

We stayed at the Olde Bull last week after a family party, our first impression was wow!! what a beautiful building, it is an old coaching inn set back off the road on the way to Mildenhall. The reception staff were very attentive check in was quick and efficient. We were made to feel at home at once. The room was superb, very spacious and beautifully decorated, the en-suite bathrooms were furnished to the designer quality that you would expect to find in a top London hotel. We did not not eat at the hotel but looking at the menu we have decided we are going back just have a meal there!. Breakfast was excellent plenty of choice and freshly cooked to perfection. All in all an amazing stay and we will definitely be going back for another stay.

We have been to the Bull on a handful of occassions, not being completely local we save up for a treat. We have been to the Valentines Dinners, the Murder Mystery Nights and the highlights the New Year bashes.I, myself was a patron of the Bull under the previous management, have enjoyed watching the changes and continual refurbishment of both the building and the menu. We have always found all the staff particularily helpful, courteous and fun. We are always made to feel special, but we have a motto when we eat out or stay anywhere, treat the staff as people to enjoy, not servants for your every whim. It tends to yield a better rapport and overall atmosphere.

On this particular stay that I am reviewing, I made a last minute booking for my partner's 50th birthday, having had to cancel going to Bath due to the weather conditions.Having explained all this I duly went down the night before our stay, due to be on a Thursday night, bang in the middle of Xmas parties they had booked. Most of the decorations were fine, but one complex balloon decoration had Cheryl perplexed and saying they did not have time, I was admittedly dissappointed, but understood...Sonia on usual form got interested in the details, but did not promise anything....

The night of our stay, having previously discussed with Cheryl which room she recommended, we were not dissappointed...all my decorations had been used, banner across the bedhead, confetti on the bed, champagne on ice, cocolates the works, my fancy balloon display made and on the bed, along with their finishing touch of black organza bow on the bed, this all worked perfectly with the black, orange and white decor. My partner, Jerry was blown away. An equally good job had been done of decorating the table in the restaurant. We were treated to the usually high standard of service and food.

Best advice, go try an event, like Valentines or 80 seated for Murder Mystery, it is a set price, runs like clockwork and excellant value for money. The restaurant dishes have a good range in price and having eaten at places like The Pearl in London and The Savoy I can tell you that this represents a great meal experience, but possibly not for your everyday diner that is looking for amazing, but not willing to pay a reasonable price. You get what you pay for and expect.

Having stayed at Many hotels in the UK, Overseas and in particular Suffolk and Norfolk and this is just great such a change and different, with good service, friendly staff and excellent food whether in the Bar or the AA Rosette Restaurant and some of the entertainment that they have is just out of the ordinary but equally excellent. A great place for a great time just to chill out and relax whether 25 or 75 it is just great, love staying and love the people. If you enjoy as much as we did you will love it.
