Apples' River House Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #4 of 9 Redding B&B and Inns

Of all the places we stayed on our 3-week road trip, this was the best. Ric and Connie's home is modern and beautifully decorated. It's located in a quiet residential neighborhood less than 5 minutes from the center of town and ten minutes from the Sundial Bridge, museum and arboretum. Access to the bike path adjoins their property.
Our room was spacious with a table and chairs perfect for my computer plus two easy chairs for relaxing. The bed was so comfortable we were tempted to ask what brand the mattress was. Guests have access to their incredibly landscaped yard with its Asian flair ... koi pond, waterfall and secluded areas for relaxing. We ate breakfast outside in the gazebo both mornings.
This would be just another comfortable B&B however if it were not for Ric and Connie themselves. We were greeted like friends, encouraged to help ourselves to wine each day and spent time talking over our mutual love of travel. We hope to travel through the area in the future and will definitely stay here again when possible.

Room Tip: We loved listening to the waterfall at night from our room overlooking the backyard.

We stayed only one night, but Apple's River House would have been a lovely place to stay much longer. The inn is a modern and elegant new home. Our bed was very comfortable, and we had a balcony outside our room. The Sacramento River is a short pathway from the house and we took a walk on the paved trail along the river in the evening--the day had been unusually hot, but it was beautifully cool as soon as the sun set. The owners, Connie and Rick, are so friendly that we felt at home immediately. They offered us refreshments and wine when we arrived, and a delicious breakfast in the morning.

We spent one night in Redding and made the correct choice for lodging.....a modern, clean and comfortable b&b. I opted for the small room as it was just an overnight but for a longer stay I would select a larger room.....mainly the bathroom had no place to put cosmetics, etc. but it had a great shower! It was extremely hot in Redding for people from the Pacific Northwest but the house was marvelously cool....thank goodness. Rick and Connie were a delightful couple - we enjoyed conversation and wine before we went to eat a tasty meal at Gironda's and see the "Sundial Bridge" - a walk in the park at the sunset was wonderful after our meal and day of driving 6 hours. Breakfast in the morning was serve yourself - just like home - good and not fancy. This was very welcome since we were driving again that day for another 6 hours. Connie gave us directions to a "doc in the box" as my husband was experiencing allergies and sinus pain. After that we were on our way to Arcata before heading North. The drive over the mountains to the coast was beautiful!!! Thanks again for your hospitality. I would highly recommend.

Tucked up against the river, this B&B was just right for us! Connie and Rick, our hosts, have built their home and lifestyle around comfort, cleanliness and convenience. A map of bike trails and a list of restaurants awaited us when we checked in, which we studied over a glass of wine and conversation with our hosts. The house was lightly and tastefully decorated and the yard beautifully landscaped. Overall I would give this B&B a big thumbs-up and I would definitely go back again!

Very rarely do we go to the same place more than once...Now we've been here twice and I'd go again in a heartbeat....Such a nice alternative to a motel/hotel chain or Victorian-type
B & B....Very modern, comfortable and clean...We stayed in the "North" room this time..I'd say the "West" room, in which we stayed in last time, has more room/space......Our "North" room closet was just too small for a multi night stay for two...It was very chilly with some rain when we were here so we LOVED the little electric fireplace....Beautiful view of snow-covered Mt. Shasta Bally out our window! We really enjoyed all Redding had to offer, especially the Sac. River Bike Trail......
The Apple's, Connie and Rick, were so hospitable and nice....
Breakfast has improved quite a bit, but still it's just a bit plain and simple, nothing WOW or special.....

This Bed and Breakfast is fantastic. It is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood along the Sacramento River.
From the moment we arrived, until we were packing to go, we were treated as friends. Rick and Connie were great hosts and made us feel welcome for our entire stay. Our room was very comfortable had a beautiful view. The garden is exceptional and very peaceful. We even left our windows open at night and loved falling asleep to the sound of the fountains in the garden. They also have a gate that leads out to a beautiful walk along the Sacramento River that we took advantage of a few times. It was absolutely beautiful.
The breakfasts were delicious and in fact, I asked for two of Connies recipes and have since then cooked them for my family!
I would recommend this place to anyone. We left feeling as if we made new friends as well as feeling very well rested. If you are up for an adventure, ask if Richard is available for a ride on his boat on the river!

This is probably the nicest B&B we've ever stayed in. It's tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood, but this is not some pokey old converted house. It was built to have everything you'd want in a B&B. Connie and Rick are excellent hosts and have it down to an art--they offered just enough friendly service, help, and hospitality to make us feel welcome and at-home (only better), without being the least intrusive. And the place is immaculate! Our room was spacious, pleasantly furnished, & very comfortable, and the private bath was spotless. We were offered wine and the use of their gorgeously-landscaped yard to relax in the evening, and a delicious breakfast was served on the patio the next morning. There's a tv room downstairs if you want it, and the property sits right on the lovely Sacramento River trail. We'd go back in a heartbeat. Sooooo much nicer than staying in some cookie-cutter hotel with a boring "continental" breakfast.
