This eclectic and beautifully maintained B &B is a true gem to find. Comfortable and inviting with many niches to sit, read or daydream. The beds are very comfortable, and the rooms are spacious. Off street parking. Wonderful outdoor sitting area gives you a secluded beautiful oasis to have a glass of wine and relax.

We are locals that just needed a 'getaway' for my birthday. Beautifully decorated with antiques, an art deco kitchen, great rooms and a lovely yard on the west side of town. Close to the Sacramento River trail, downtown eateries and shops. Just a few minutes drive from I-5 and the hustle and bustle of big box stores, chain restaurants and the mall, across town on the east side of Redding. Lots of brochures for local attractions. Fresh fruit and pastries for breakfast was just what we needed to get our day started. Greg is the perfect host. I highly recommend The Desmond House if you're a local and have family and friends coming to town. Think about booking a massage as well.

Desmond house is is a great place to stay. Gregg has done a wonderful job making it cozy and comfortable. Inside and out there are lovely seating areas for quiet talks. The bed was very comfortable and I slept like a baby, something I rarely do on trips. Gregg has mastered the balance of being a great host and allowing guests privacy and lots of space. If your anywhere near the area, make sure Desmond House is on your list of places to stay.
Can't wait to come back and stay again.

Checked in early, and Greg was there to meet me. I chose the brooks room because of the bed. It's an antigue bed that was shipped in from the east coast, and it has a lot of history behind it. The house is tastefully decorated and we could sit by the bay window and stare out all day long. Greg was hospitable, even pulled out all the cushion so we could use the sauna, which was wonderful. Will definitely return.

Lovely stay in a cute and tasteful home. Greg is a gracious and warm host and his house is filled with novel nik naks. There is a pleasant outdoor area to lounge in and the rooms are comfortable and well ventilated. The beds were feeling a little old and hard but not a big deal. Breakfast was great -fresh fruit and everything we needed. Close to the old city centre. We loved our stay here.

Greg has the most wonderfully decorated house; the place is packed with antiques of the Art Nouveau period. The place is better than a museum of furniture of that particular era. It is clear that Greg put a lot of time and effort in gathering all these objects that give this house an extraordinary feel. Both rooms are great (we could heve a quick peak), but the one we stayed in had a heavenly bed. In the morning, Greg had prepared everything for our private breakfast. It felt as if we had the place all to ourselves and it was a joy to stay there.
