We have stayed at this hotel in the past and made an effort to stop in Redding so we could stay here again. The nights rest was good, the room was clean and the accommodations are convenient to the freeway and other amenities offered in the area, restaurants and shopping, gas. The pet fee is $20. Why do hotels charge extra for pets but not children? Well behaved pets are probably less destructive or obnoxious than many children...my rant for the day. The breakfast is an extraordinary lavish meal and is worth the price of the stay. While I can't compare this to other hotels in the area, I can say I would stay here again. There is complete workout facility, restaurant and business center for the convenience of the frequent traveler.

Comfortable room. Friendly staff. Excellent complimentary breakfast. Higher price for same amenities compared to recent stay at other motels. Located near great restaurants and easy freeway access. Would stay here again because they were only one of two motels that offered a discount for the local event we came to that brings people from all over the country.

This is one of the cleanest properties ever! The staff keeps the entire parking area clean. The rooms are fresh and clean, nice showers, AC on a wall thermostat keeping the room comfortable. There is a very nice restaurant, patio dining area, full bar with excellent service.

I stayed at this property May 2; paid $143.99.

I've stayed at other Best Western franchises, and this one was as clean and comfortable as any of them. I have a few quibbles, however.

First, there was no microwave. What the heck? The sign says, "Best Western PLUS". I've stayed at non-PLUS hotels, and they all had microwaves in the room.

Second, the coffeemaker wasn't cleaned properly. It had hard water scales inside the reservoir that must have dated from the beginning of time. If the hotel doesn't think cleaning out the (easily visible) scales is important, how much effort do they put into cleaning out the invisible germs and residue that collects there? Could it be the "PLUS" in the hotel's name refers to the microbial lifeforms and calcium you get in your freshly-brewed morning coffee?

Third, the exhaust fan in the bathroom wasn't working. It was Steam City in my room unless I showered with the door open. Could it be the "PLUS" on the hotel's stationery comes from the meditative silence you get without the sound of a roaring exhaust fan in the background?

Fourth, on the subject of showers, mine was schizoid, or at best, bipolar. It would start out ok. Then switch to "scalding". After just enough time to get the temperature back to normal, it would inject a stream of cold water. This happened repeatedly. I began to suspect these were practice drills designed to shorten my response time to unpleasant stimuli, another "PLUS" the Best Western marketing staff was giving its guests.

Fifth, the mini-sized fridge had a micro-sized freezer compartment. And it was slanted downward, so if you put a bottle of juice in it, it would slide right out, hit the door and let the steam in (thanks to the non-working bathroom exhaust fan). It defeated the whole purpose of even having a fridge. I fail to see how any "PLUS" could be associated with such a minus.

To be fair, I have to call attention to a couple of features that might justify the "PLUS" in this hotel's logo. One is its effort to adopt green practices--asking guests to put signs on their beds only if they HAD to have their sheets changed and dropping towels on the floor only if they wanted clean ones. Another "PLUS" was the addition of the little light inside the chifferobe that turns on when you open the door. I'm sure some people find it helpful. I just found it amusing.

One thing the marketing people probably count as a "PLUS", but which I, personally, think is just silly and not very green is the practice of piling SIX PILLOWS on the bed. How do you even use that many pillows? Does the difference between two pillows and six make that big a difference when you're sound asleep and unconscious? Maybe the intended "PLUS" here has something to do with ammo for pillow fights. Kids probably love it.

Curious about what made the difference between a Best Western PLUS and non-PLUS hotel, I went to their Website and read, "Our upper mid-scale hotels are AAA/CAA 3-diamond rated. Enjoy all of the features and services of Best Western coupled with upgraded amenities, higher-quality furnishing and enhanced style and comfort."

"Big hat. Small herd," is a cattleman's saying that describes the disconnect between lofty claims intended to justify lofty prices and what's real. It applies here.

We have stayed at this hotel many times and have never been disappointed. The rooms are clean and comfortable. After a very long drive, it is a plus factor that a wonderfulk restaurant/bar is adjoining. Really something to look forward to and we will certainly stay there again. We have bad knees and always request a downstairs room and the request has always been honored. We will delfinately stay here again.

This is a perfect location for a jump off spot to visit the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity NRA. The hotel, located just off I-5, has a great staff, is clean and comfortable. The staff is helpful and friendly. There is an on-site restaurant and lounge with a good Happy Hour. If you are not camping, this is a good stop.
