The Breakfast area was saturated with people and chairs. The tables are too close together and you could not move at all with all the large chairs. The breakfast was disappointing considering how much I had heard about it. The server was not able to be understood as he was short and behind a tall glass serving screen. He refused to speak up when asked and only talked faster with a thick accent. After several attempts to communicate I just took the meager portion and threw the cold food away. The bread and pastries were gone by 9:30. the only potatoes avalable were filled with onions. I will not recommend this breakfast as it is not worth the poor selection and non-understandable (and obviously selfinfatuated) cook. IMHO

There are 20 Ayers Hotels in the southern California area fashioned after the elegance of a European boutique hotel. We stayed at the Ayres Hotel Redlands for two nights at the end of November and I am utterly impressed with the facility. The following is a very detailed review of the hotel. In short, I was very impressed with this two year hotel with its lovely and spacious rooms and facility in general and would definitely stay here again, and seek out other Ayres Hotels when staying in southern California.

LOCATION: We are actually visiting family in another city (Yucaipa) but I didn’t find any hotels in that area that I was comfortable with. Ayres Hotel is right off the I-10 Exit at Colton and Tennessee. The area is not congested and hotel is very easy to find. There are several restaurants within walking distance to include Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, Coco’s, El Burrito Redlands (walk up window), Papa John’s Pizza, Subway, El Pollo Loco, Carl’s Jr/Green Burrito, and Taco Bell. Hertz Local Car Rental Office is also within walking distance.

A 24 hour WalMart is 1.5 miles away at 2050 W. Redlands Blvd. Just take Colton west to Redlands at California Boulevard. Between the hotel and Walmart is an Arby’s, Pizza Hut, Big Lots, CVS Pharmacy, Kmart, McDonald’s, Del Taco, Thai House, Subway, Wendy’s, Panda Express, Applebee’s, and two Starbucks. Historic Downtown Redlands is 1.5 miles away from the hotel with many restaurant and retail options as well.

INTERNET: Free Internet is available through Ethostream. No cable/dataport is needed, and service is fairly fast. Internet access is trouble free, and there is no need to contact the offsite troubleshooting service.

Note to iPod users: If you are using your laptop, selected Home Sharing, and have your iPod plugged in, you will be able to see all the items on other people’s laptops and vice versa. Remember that you are using a server open to all and that this situation is not exclusive to this hotel but applies to all hotels with a shared server.

HOTEL LAYOUT: Entire hotel is well built with safety, security, and energy efficiency in mind. All rooms have exterior doors and there is no interior hallway. It is more convenient to have a room on the first floor, as for those on the second floor, you must enter the courtyard area first in order to access stairs to the second floor. If you need an elevator, you will need to use the elevator near the lobby. Access to the courtyard is either through the lobby or through the two gates at the opposite end of the lobby. Hotel has two main buildings parallel to each other with one gate on each side.

The first floor rooms either face the swimming pool or are on the opposite side and face the parking lot area. Of course, it is more convenient to take bags from your car in the parking lot to those rooms not on the side with the pool and courtyard. The other thought is that, though taking bags from your car through the locked gate to the courtyard rooms is more work, it is quieter.

ROOMS: We are assigned Room #120 facing the pool, courtyard, and fitness room (which in located in the center courtyard area). Room is very spacious, beautifully appointed, and comfortable. The room measures 15 feet wide by 25 feet long (or 375 square feet). The ceiling appears to be 10 feet or more in height. There is a small mirrored closet with an ironing board and extra pillows. In the same area is a single sink with ample counter space and a small coffee maker. The bathtub and toilet are in a separate area. The toiletries used are Eco Pure.

The room has a nice sized, mini refrigerator and freezer combination. It is not a wet bar stocked with food, though there is a bottle of water in the room available for sale at $4.00 if it is consumed. There is also a small microwave. Both refrigerator and microwave are Avanti brand.

The room has an Energy Saver Key System. It is a shut off system. Your guest key must be inserted into the whit slot next to the door to activate all outlets and power. When departing the room, take your key with you and Energy Saver will automatically shut off power in room within 10 seconds. Our particular room had a king sized bed with sofa sleeper (looks like a queen sleeper).

We did not hear any noise at all from the other guests above us nor from the guests on either side or behind us. The shower water was hot at all times.

BREAKFAST: There is a made-to-order egg counter staffed by a cook. The cook also has available two types of scrambled eggs, seasoned red potatoes, and bacon or sausage (these two items are not served together; bacon featured one day and sausage the other). There is also a self-serve waffle maker, a self-serve toast and bagel station, cottage cheese, sliced mixed fruit (cantaloupe and honeydew) , boiled eggs, four types of dry cereal with milk, whole fruit (apples, oranges, and bananas), a variety of Danishes and sweet rolls, yogurt, and juice (orange, apple, passion/guava, and lemonade). The dining hall is on the small side, but an excellent for breakfast.

PETS: Pets are permitted in limited and specifically designated room. I believe there is a $45 pet deposit.

FITNESS ROOM: The fitness room is located in the courtyard. Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. There is one treadmill, one elliptical machine, one stationary bike, one rowing machine, exercise balls, and free weights. The room is small but sufficient for those who desire to exercise.

LAUNDRY: Coin operated laundry machines are located near the guest pool and fitness room in the courtyard in front of Room #118. Use of the washing machine and dryer is $3.00 each per cycle. Change and detergent are available at the front desk.

This hotel surpassed all of my expectations, and probably can be rated four stars. I will seek the Ayres Hotel chain in the future when staying in Southern California and highly recommend this hotel for your travel needs.

I rely on the reviews at TripAdvisor a lot so I don't take the opportunity to contribute to this board lightly. Nor do I often take time (although I should) to write reviews but I must do so now. The reason is that I think exceptional service should be recognized and rewarded.
The reason I selected Ayers for our week-long stay (for a nephew's wedding/mini-vacation) was the attractive pictures showing warm, tastefully appointed rooms and common areas. Although pictures can be misleading it was not the case here.
I cannot recommend the Ayres Hotel Redlands highly enough. Their service staff is not just friendly but extremely helpful no matter what your need. The rooms are spotless and, although I've stayed at my share of 5 Star Hotels I've never slept in nicer beds and softer sheets.
We stayed in the "Family Suite" (there is only one of these) and it was perfect for our family of four (2 boys 4, 7). Speaking of the boys, they loved the pool which is situated in the middle of a "courtyard" and is adjacent to a sitting area where you can watch your children in the pool from the comfort of the shaded veranda (there are also poolside chairs and tables with umbrellas.
There is a breakfast served. This goes above and beyond the usual cereal and pastry breakfasts in that they make egg dishes to order which includes bacon, potatoes, etc. A great bargain.
Each evening they provide a special treat - sometimes local micro-brews and wines or home-made cookies, etc. It is this sort of extra perk that makes the stay so delightful.
Finally a personal story. At the end of our stay I noticed that I was missing an expensive watch and after searching high and low, resigned myself to the fact that it must have been taken from the room. I knew it was not the responsibility of the hotel but when after returning home and made sure it hadn't ended up in a suitcase pocket, I wrote the hotel an email and just gave them an FYI in case they tracked that sort of thing.
Well, they didn't just say they were sorry. They went to the room with a maintenance person and turned it upside down - even pulling a large dresser away from the wall and...there was the watch. It had slipped down behind the dresser and there was no way one could have known that could happen without pulling it out from the wall. The next day there was a Fedex package at our doorstep with the watch in it.
From now on, whenever I'm in an area with an Ayres Hotel I won't waste time researching where to stay. It will be automatic.
Do yourself a favor and stay at this hotel. I promise you will be glad you did.
One last thing - although the hotel is close to I-10 freeway, we heard no traffic noise at night. (Our room was at the far end away from the freeway.)

Very nice hotel, the staff is very nice and accomodating. My room was very nice, with a large TV and a small refer with a freezer compartment.
The cleaning staff was attentive to detail; and the room has numerous small note signs to be ecologicaly correct with unused towels and linen.
I have stayed here three times now and enjoyed each and every stay; and each free breakfast that is very well put together.

We found this hotel through a bargain-hunting website, so we got a great deal on a great motel stay. This place is very new, and the rooms are extremely nice, as is the pool and spa. A larger pool than you find at most motels, and though the water wasn't as warm as some people like, it was sure nice to cool down in the over 100 degree weather we had. This place is right next to the freeway, but you would never know it once you step inside the room, due to some excellent sound-proofing. The only sounds we heard were some thumping from kids running around in the room above us. The free full breakfast was great, and the staff was friendly and helpful. There's a really nice outdoor patio for eating, relaxing, or even barbecuing.
