There is a wonderful young man by the name of Sebastian who supervises the front desk. Without doubt, he is one of the best things going at The Portoifino…room changes, upgrades,
and sevice with a smile - if its within reason, Sebastian will make it work. The hotel can be very busy with events during the weekends, so if your looking for peace and quiet to enjoy the balcony, best to stay during the week.

Room Tip: Marina side rooms over look a power plant, so stay on the south side if you need to book that view...

The Portofino Hotel could not be more privileged than to have Sebastian as our Front Desk Manager. His service with a smile keeps guests coming back time and time again. While our hotel is often busy, our peaceful guests rooms with luxurious balconies are always a treat.

Please come back and visit us again soon.

Warmest wishes,

Nathan N.

I loved my stay here. The hotel is not only beautiful and charming, but the staff was wonderful also - especially Jerome! There was a little mishap when I arrived and they took such great care of me. Upgraded me to an unbelievably beautiful suite and made the entire experience smooth sailing from there. I decided to extend my stay at the hotel even though I'm moving into a regular room. The beds are so comfortable, the balconies are beautiful, views are lovely, food was great, and the staff again I can't say enough good things about!

A wonderful staff is exactly the type of culture we are trying to grow at the Portofino. A beautiful and charming hotel can bring people in, but it’s the service that keeps them coming back. Your smooth sailing stay, with great food, and service is music to this hoteliers ears. I look forward to complimenting Jerome on his job well done personally.

Warmest wishes,

Great base for our first trip to LA. We were there for 5 nights including Memorial weekend. The drive from the airport is short, great after you have been up for 24 hours straight! The staff were very helpful with all sorts of queries from recommending Polly'sm Diner for breakfast ( amazing!) to ringing the Tar Pits to check they were open on memorial weekend. Free wifi in the lovely lobby/ bar area with complementary icy water and lemonade on tap. The 2nd floor room and the beds were not the biggest, but had everything we needed. It was clean, had a lovely bathroom and balcony area overlooking the sea and sea wall. Always something to watch on the water from Dragon boats to a Pilates class on paddle boards (!!) and of course the sea lions, which we could hear a little, but did not disturb us. The mini bar fridge in the room kept me awake far more! In the evenings we would stroll round the marina to the lovely beach for a game of frisbee and we enjoyed eating in The Cheesecake Factory nearby. The hotel restaurant, although, nice, was a bit pricy. We could have stayed nearer to all the LA main attractions by staying at Santa Monica or similar, but this was a great standard of hotel and better value we thought, and had great character. Perfect choice if you want to be by the beach!

Room Tip: Book a sea view room, lovely!

I am so pleased to hear that our team was helpful on your Memorial Day stay! The fruit infused water featured in the lobby coupled with the complimentary Wi-Fi is truly a treat. Our perfect location unique amenities and friendly staff make a must for an LA stay.

Come back and visit our ocean paradise again soon.

One of our favorite places we have ever stayed. Rooms are pretty and comfortable (beds are very comfy), bathroom renovated and clean, balconies...what's not to love? This place is casual, not grand, and a perfect feel for a hotel next to a marina and in a casual place like SoCal. The staff was very easy to work with, very friendly, and kept everything easy and efficient, whether you were borrowing a bike, getting your car from the valet, or needing questions answered. A total pleasure.

Restaurant across from hotel is Baleen and a very pleasant time....good food, festive atmosphere, live entertainment...have your meal at a table in the bar area to really enjoy the music...if all are taken, hang out...something usually opens up! PS: I left my sweater there one night, and the next day, I found it at the hotel front desk, folded neatly and waiting to go back to owner. I never even had to track it down. They took the extra steps, and made things easy on me.

Want a great local inexpensive coffee or breakfast first thing in the AM? Take a leisurely 2-3 minute walk along the water, watching and listening to the harbor seals (they have A LOT to say), and join the other local and tourist early birds at the little pier restaurant called Pollys. We became daily regulars! And the fishermen on the pier with the big Pelicans and other sea birds are free entertainment. And the kids love them! If you feel like enjoying your coffee and sweets on your balcony just get a cup to go from Polly's and you'll be all set.
No free wifi in the rooms, so head down to the lovely lobby lounge with water views, sunshine and a gentle buzz of activity and get all the free wifi you need in a comfy setting.
We stayed a few days on each side of the hotel. The marina view side is lovely, and you really barely notice the parking lot below you, there is so much beauty and nature to distract you. And the ocean side offers you the sights and sounds of the harbor seals, the pelicans, the boaters, etc. Bring your binoculars...you might not want to leave your balcony. Both our rooms were on the end of the hotel that exits out to a tiny 8-10car parking area that is a bit tucked away so it gave us easy parking and quick access to our rooms through the side door, which is keyed for the guests only.
Borrow bikes...the flat terrain and beautiful environment are perfect for bike riding. Ride the Strand to a nice little beach restaurant or cafe for lunch. A one minute walk from the hotel and you can rent a sea Kayak and explore the waters....that is such fun!!
We stayed at Portofino for a week but could have happily stayed longer, and we will look for a reason to visit there again. It really is Just Right!

Room Tip: Since all rooms have patio or balcony, floors 2 and 3 are more private than floor one, but the ocean...

We are thrilled to be classified as one of your favorite places you have ever stayed. As a well-seasoned traveler we know you have a choice in hotels, and knowing we are yours speaks volumes. An easy to work with team who makes your wishes our pleasure is exactly the type of culture we are trying to create, and I look forward to celebrating each team member on this job well done.

Portofino could not be luckier than to have the Baleen Kitchen as its restaurant. With the live music, friendly service, and fantastic food, it is the perfect complement to an exceptional stay. I look forward to commending the team on not only a great dining experience, but on recovering your sweater and making the pick-up process convenient.

I am glad the location of your room was ideal for your stay, both Marina and Oceanside accommodations are astounding, and the choice of which is better, we leave up to you. Come back and visit us again anytime.

Warmest wishes,

Nathan N.

Had a beautiful stay at the Portofino Hotel for 2 nights. All staff were lovely, aside from the initial greeting from when we checked in late on the first night. No information provided about the hotel services, check out times etc, and there was no information in the rooms. The rooms are small, clean and fairly basic. Great views and surrounding area. Wifi, breakfast and all the added extras are not included in the expensive price per night. Beautiful lobby area, bar and adjacent restaurant to spend time at outside the rooms. Also made use of the complimentary bike hire to ride down to the beaches for the day (great idea but bikes were not well maintained, had to stop to pump up tyres) Would only stay again if got better value.

I am so pleased to hear that your stay was so enjoyable. We pride ourselves on having a property as beautiful as its views, and I am glad you were able to experience both. Our bikes are perhaps my favorite amenity, giving guests the opportunity to ride down to local beaches or piers, and we do have a new fleet coming in this coming month. I will be touching base with our initial greeter, and ensuring that our welcoming experience is consistently exquisite, and complimenting housekeeping and the rest of our team on what sounds like a “lovely” experience.

I look forward to your return.

Warmest wishes,

Nathan N.

You can’t find better views, or better service than at the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach. With dancing dolphins and singing seals, our waterfront paradise is the right choice for any vacation. Like many of the hotels in our local area there is a WiFi charge, however we do offer a variety of packages that include services like our WiFi, or parking.

Thank you for such a positive review I look forward to sharing your story with our team.

Warmest wishes,

Nathan N.

We celebrated our anniversary here and was upgraded complimentary from the deluxe sea side room to the ocean premier king room. Upon check in staff was very friendly including valet. Everyone greeted us immediately. The staff seem like they enjoy working here. I booked directly through their website and got a package that include parking and wifi. Room rates are a little expensive but compared to other beach cities in LA it seemed fair. The hotel felt a little quirky but I found it charming. Room was very clean, comfortable bed and the shower was perfect! Good water pressure and temperature. The views from the room were spectacular! We also made use of the complimentary bikes, quick ride to the marina or beach. I would stay here again if the price was comparable to the package I booked.
