I had salad followed by the chicken followed by some ice cream. I didn't like that the rice had noodles mixed in asleep well, it have it an inconsistent texture that sad not pleasant. My chicken was dry and my veggies were bland. The service was amazing and the chef was very nice. Too bad the food wasn't so great, but at least the ice cream was good!

Ahh - you know when you have arrived at a restaurant where the proprietor has fallen in Love with his vocation. It's the suttle touches - table cloths, fresh flowers, a cozy dining room, mature crew members who know their craft, and plates that reflect hours of preperation and care to reach a level of excellence. Take for example the Rib Eye which is grilled and smoked that day, then allowed to rest, finally sliced and basted with a delightful sauce and herbs. Who takes the time anymore?

While the facilities are a little on the small size, it adds to the cozy atmosphere where it's not uncommon for dinners who are complete strangers, to engage in sociable chat with other diners, commenting on what they are having, or about the unusual homemade icecreams. Being a small town, someone there knows someone, and the comradarie and outgoing sence of belonging are ever present. Sure, the furniture is out of style, the colors are from a generation or so in the past, but the quality of the food, the excellent variety of wines and spirits, the ambiance and mecticulous, service cause one to easily overlook those things of little consequence. However, there is some very appealing artwork to admire and you'll find it catches your eye.

Dining with friends who we conduct business with, we had a plesant Asian inspired snapper with an herb medley, and delicious fresh sides, Salmon seared perfectly, served piping hot, and Rib Eye. I was on the verge of trying the Pork Shank, but I went for the Special Snapper. The salad was bright, crisp, and fresh, with ingrediants that were more than likely harvested 24 hours prior. In fact, everything was fresh and wholesome, prepeared and cooked with excellence and superb flavors ranging from strong and savory to delicate and complex.

You have a great bartender who knows his trade and is wise enough to know you did not exclusively come there to watch his show, but enjoy the product of his work. The waitress was a pro with great experience who was plesant and helpful, moving with economy, speed and efficency, never once missing a beat. Even though we closed the place down, the crew never once hinted that we were holding them up, and they seemed politfully content to let us enjoy our time together. Another nice touch, and perhaps the reason it all goes so well, the owner and chef was there watching over everything, cooking, and visiting with customers in a quiet handed way.

In Reedly, by God California, it's a treasure of a find and worthy of any detour to get to.

This is a nice place for couples or adults, but don't bother bringing the little ones. It's not a kid friendly environment. That said my hubby and I had a nice date and dinner was very good.

The food at Jon's Bear Club is very tasty, the quality is exceptional, the prices reasonable, and the service consistently good. Love the sauce on the pork shank, sweet and spicey at the same time. The salmon is equally delicious. People complain about the prices, not so, considering the fact that soup or salad comes with the dinner entree, the bread is always fresh. The lemon cheesecake is one of my favorites for dessert.

I'm not from Reedley but I have no problem taking the the time to visit one of my favorite restaurants there. Stumbled on this little gem in 2006 and have never been disappointed except for the one time it was closed. My fault for not checking days open. It's an old time steak house atmosphere with a piano bar and some of the original empolyees from when it first opened in 1973. I have never regreted paying the price for this fine dining. Top quality cuisine and service. http://www.jonsbearclub.com/
