We purchased one of the Festival of Lights packages for our 42nd anniversary. We were upgraded to a presidential 2 story suite n later learned it was Aunt Alice's room. We had a memorable tour with a knowledgeable docent. We enjoyed dinner in the outside mission restaurant where the food was delicious with excellent service. We walked the streets enjoying the many sights n smells along with our hot chocolate n hot toddy. We found two delicious Casey's cupcakes in our room. We had beautiful views from our rooftop room . What a special anniversary. We have already rebooked for my husband's birthday the end of January following the Man of La Mancha presentation at Fox theatre.

Room Tip: Views during Festival of Lights is important n king beds

With over 4 million lights, it is something to see during the holidays. The hotel has an old style charm and is fun to explore the different wings of the hotel. When you add the bright lights and music, it is fun entertainment and a cute town to explore. Pros: The rooms are large and spacious, beds are comfortable. Reception offered champagne while we waited to check in, drinks are excellent. Cons: The food was bland (at both restaurants we ate at), our room did not have any towels (and was not ready after 4 pm check in) and the elevators are very small so you have to wait quite a bit or take the stairs. I would still recommend a visit during the holidays and encourage you to take the horse & carriage ride around the hotel (which is not part of the hotel services). I would also suggest making dinner reservations if you plan to eat at the hotel. During the week, they only have a small restaurant open for breakfast and with the hotel full, it took a long time for us to get a table.

Room Tip: Glenwood Rooms overlook the swimming pool and Mexican restaurant.

This is huge, yet charming property. We felt like we were touring one of castles of Europe. We stayed here just before Christmas to see the Festival of Lights. It was fantastic. It reminded me of a Disneyland Christmas. The only issue I was were the hordes of people who come to see the lights. it was far too crowded for my taste. Thankfully, the hotel staff restrict the upper levels of the resort to guests only. This made the experience better. We tried battling the crowds on the street level for about an hour before we conceded defeat and enjoyed the lights from our balcony. The room was acceptable, but not nothing more than average. We were unable to book a room with two beds. That meant that we had a roll away brought in and had our other child sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor. The sleep quality of the room was very poor. The walls seemed to be paper thin. We were awoken several times during the night from noises in the hall, from the street or from the people in the room next to ours. Considering the high price tag for the room, I would say that we did not get our money's worth. I will not be returning.

Room Tip: Demand an interior room or any room that does not face the street. These rooms will be much quieter.

We purchased one of their Festival of Lights room packages for our 17th anniversary. So nice!
$199 got us a deluxe room, king bed, overlooking Las Campanas Mexican Restaurant there, aromatic spa candle, $25 gift card, complimentary valet which is so nice, we walked everywhere, restaurants, coffee shops, stores, etc..We opened the window in our room , fresh air welcoming the aroma of the restaurant as well as the spectacular holiday lights surrounding us wherever we looked! Surprisingly, by 11pm when we went to bed, it wasn't noisy at all and we got a great sleep in our comfortable bed!
During the holidays there are carriage rides available in Cinderella type carriages for couples, small groups or larger ones for families, large groups! So romantic & festive!
They have a fantastic Sunday brunch worth checking out!
One tip: If you plan on eating dinner at one of their 3 restaurants make sure you make a reservation as soon as you can before the day you check in. It gets very crowded during the Festival of Lights at the restaurants and although do try to fit in hotel guests, 8pm was a little too late for us. We opted to eat at a great Thai restaurant across the street.
Great time, courteous, attentive staff (got us in an hour early) would highly recommend for couples, groups, and families!

Our family had an amazing stay at the Mission Inn. Many friends had shared their experiences at the hotel but everything exceeded my expectations. From the moment we stepped in the door, where Edgar, the security chief, assisted us with a small inconvenience, to the medallions of beef at Duane's, the corner suite overlooking the promenade, and finally the grand hotel itself, the entire experience was superior.

Room Tip: Room 201 is a large corner room with views of the promenade.

We had met a few of our family groups from all over the country, having very high expectations. We were not disappointed! This was a first time event for us. It is a gorgeous Hotel. Historical and Classy. We were there for one night during Christmas week and It was amazingly decorated with a zillion lights and creative displays. We loved the horse-drawn lighted carriages and the parade of lights as well! We were in the pool, spa area, and at dusk, all the lights lit up at once. You could hear all the exclamations of oooo's and ahhhhh's. Awesomely Beautiful!
Our room was very spacious & clean. The bathroom was large, updated and the king bed was xtra comfortable with the rooms all uniquely decorated.
Everyone should have the opportunity to see this Hotel and Holiday Show. You can expect a big crowd, which is to be expected but It is definitely worth it. We had a lovely balcony and could look down at all the sights as well. I would recommend this experience to all!

Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony
