Review of Market Broiler

Market Broiler
Ranked #4 of 703 Restaurants in Riverside
Certificate of Excellence
Cuisines: Seafood
Description: Market Broiler rose from the tradition of California seafood landmarks dating back to the 1950's. It's a casual, comfortable, moderately-priced, full-service, restaurant where fresh fish and seafood are prepared over mesquite charcoal flames.Key to its presentation is the fresh fish market, where all fish being served is on display. In addition to 18 fresh fish offered daily, entrees of fresh chicken or aged beef as well as salads and pasta are offered. The food is flavorful and portions are generous. The homestyle theme is borne out by the fact that the chowders, sauces, and dressings are made from scratch in each restaurant. Our popular sourdough bread is served warm at your table as a part of the meal.

“Continuously satisfying”
Reviewed 21 April 2013

We probably visit Market Broiler about once a month and have done so for WAY over a decade. The seafood is so consistently good that we've never tried to non-seafood alternatives. The fish/seafood is fresh and well-made. The service is consistently good as well. The weekday specials, the sourdough bread, and the cheese potatoes are standouts. Disappointments are so rare that the few are memorable - one bad set of mussels a couple of years ago is one example - and a waiter who forgot about us a year ago is another - but, in the second case, the manager noticed the problem and gave us a coupon. We tried to give it back to the manager saying that we understood it was an unusually busy night, but he would hear of it. It's a good and comfy place not far from home; we're lucky to have Market Broiler so close.

“Always A Good Bet”
Reviewed 15 November 2012

I probably go here for lunch more than dinner. The food has always been good. Wife likes the catfish, I'm into the fish 'n chips or fresh swordfish. For lunch I have a bowl of the white chowder, a loaf of bread (yummy) and a house chardonnay. The bar is small, seats maybe six at most, but it's comfortable. They do have a great selection of fresh fish and stuff over-the-counter. It's pricey but you can count on good quality. Much better than your local supermarket. It's where I come for the good stuff.

“Great seafood”
Reviewed 4 September 2012

This was our first time dining at Market Broiler. We had traveled to Riverside, CA from the East Coast to visit Family. Living along the East Coast we always have access to fresh seafood. We were very satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere at Market Broiler. Everyone in our party of 12 were very satisfied with their lunches. I had the Halibut on a Caesar Salad (which was a special off menu request) and it was perfectly prepared and very tasteful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

“Great Trout, TriTip....Great everything”
Reviewed 25 August 2012

Visited for the first time this week and it was great. We arrived with the early dinner crowd. I decided to have trout and triptip combo and had both prepared cajun style. Never had cajun tritip before and it was absolutly incredible. Service was top notch and the food was delivered nice a hot. This was a definite thumbs up for us and we'll be back. Our party had four different orders and all were prepared better than ever. Our server was very freindly, helpful and took care of us well. We'll definetly be back. Thanks for a great meal and a relaxing time. No wait, great price and large servings. Well worth the money!

“A good 'go to' for fish ..”
Reviewed 31 July 2012

All in all, a good evening .. an experienced waitperson .. and a fair value for what we had. As usual, the bread is the highlight of the meal, which seems strange in a seafood restaurant ... but ask anyone ... we love that bread!!! We both had the combo ... I actually had tri tip and chicken (where's the fish?) and he had tri tip and salmon .. nice portions, well cooked ... no complaints.
MB has done some excellent marketing the past several years ... certain days give discounts on particular items ... wine and appetizers, especially. We always like the big kitchen window and watch the cooks do their thing. We consider this one of our 'regular' spots ... and close to home, which helps!
