Owner description: Popular ski/resort area that receives the most natural snowfall in Southern California.

This place makes for a quick one day ski trip. I've grown tired of making the entire trip up the mountain to snow summit and big bear due to the fact that angelenos do not know how to drive in rain also are bad drivers on mountain roads. So this place makes for a nice compromise. The runs here are a great place to learn how to ski. Honestly, compared to major resorts in the tahoe and utah area the whole mountain would be rated intermediate at best. There are usually lift ticket deals to be found with some fast food chain.

Unlike Utah or Colorado (which are blessed with plenty of snow most of the times), skiing in Southern California is always hit and miss, therefore good planning before hitting the slope is imperative. FIRST, the website. I found that the Snow Valley's website is a good start to check the hour of operation, day ski or night ski availability, how many lifts open, and the run difficulties. Checking the hourly weather not only important to the road trip readiness but also what to wear. For most of the times, you don't need to wear super thick layers of ski outfits in Running Springs. SECOND, the ski gears rental. My family always go to Leroy's for our ski gears rental. The staffs at Leroy's were helpful and polite. THIRD, enjoy. After good planning, we always have a great time in the Snow Valley. The staffs at the runs are wonderful and that's what keeps us coming back to this place.

We were running out of winter and hadn't been on the skis or boards as much as we would like this year. We followed the storm up the mountain and enjoyed a great day of family-friendly skiing/riding. If a trip to Mammoth or Utah is a big holiday meal, Snow Valley was a lovely comfort-food snack. We had a GREAT time and enjoyed the really friendly staff and well-behaved patrons. It's the perfect place to keep your legs in shape when you can't get away for a multi-day trip and the convenient parking ($5, with a token that you can use toward anything on property) made for plenty of skiing and not much walking. Nice easy and intermediate runs. Pretty scenery. We're definitely going back - following the snow!

Went skiing for 3 days and loved every minute of it. The only glitch was the website showed a different ski school time and we were half an hour late. Other than that it was great, the ski school instructors were great with the kids and very attentive to their needs.
The ski lift operators at every station were very pleasant and helpful when I took my kids out skiing with me. The lines were never crowded and it made for a fun weekend of skiing. The only downside is there is no decent place to stay near Running Springs.
