“Relaxing evening before flight hom”
Reviewed 22 August 2012

Stayed at the Larkspur Landing on Howe Ave in Sacramento for one night en route to our flight back home from San Francisco. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and modern with a small kitchen and bathroom. Internet access provided, comfortable bed and a quiet location.

Breakfast was the usual items with lots of different bagels, fruits, yogurts, and juices/coffee.

Old Sacramento about 20 minutes away by car.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend visit while visiting friends im Sacramento. In addition to a great breakfast, the Larkspur offers some other great amenities like free laundry facility (you just pay $1 for detergent), free parking, full size fridge for leftovers, and microwave. The rooms were clean and the staff very friendly. The only issue we had was the bed was a little lumpy and the window couldnt be opened all the way. I highly recommend the Larkspur Landing!

Room Tip: 4th floor is not noisy at all

Stayed at the Larkspur Landing on Howe Ave in Sacramento for a couple days last week. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and modern with a small kitchenette and large bathroom. Very comfortable bed and a quiet location with no road noise. Breakfast was the usual items with lots of different bagels, fruits, yogurts, and juices/coffee. They have a small business center that you can use as well as self serve laundry room that is no charge. While not quite as nice as the Folsom Larkspur, still a great place to stay. The only complaint I have is that is that I should have stayed on the fourth floor (highest) as the floor above me squeaked a lot when the person was walking around.

It is a nice hotel, with some benefits (e.g., free laundry, kitchenettes) not found elsewhere, but I am a bit skeptical of the hyperbolic reviews that mention none of the property´s flaws (which were more apparent in the intense heat). In all rooms that are suites, the air conditoner sends cold air directly only to the living area, with air reaching the bedroom only through a small vent. In some cases, there is no working thermostat and one must physically turn off and on the air con (i.e. it will not shut off when reaching your comfort level). in the first room we were given, the aforementioned vent did not work. The hotel acknowledged the inadequacy of the cooling system since rooms getting the most sun had an extra electric fan (but not air con) in the living area. In our second room, the vent to the bedroom was closed, but this was fixed (we still had to run the loud air con and additional vent all night long). This hotel had originally been a Candlewood Suites, but I was told that even the Larkspur in Folsom, which was built as a Larkspur, had the same cooling system. Weird, for Sacramento. Also, the phone system was a bit quirky. If one pressed the buttom for wake-up call, you got no such thing. I tried phoning the front desk and got no response so I went downstairs and asked about the wake-up call system. The young lady was surprised at my confusion, saying most of their guests knew they had to contact the front desk. Say what? Finally, the continental breakfast consisted primarily of breads and pastries, with a few juices and yogurts in two small refigerators.

On the plus side, the rooms have plenty of space, the kitchenettes are handy (if you do not wash any glases or dishes used, housekeeping runs them through the dishwasher), Wi-Fi is free and there are cookies each afternoon. We did not use the tiny jacuzzi facing the front parking lot. I might consider staying here in a season other than summer, but in summer would not.

Room Tip: If in the summer, do not get a room facing the south (more sun) and ask if the room has a thermostat...

This was my first time staying in a hotel by myself. My husband was at Sutter Momorial Hospital. The hotel was very close to the hospital which was important to me. The room was very quiet. The individual thermostat for heating and cooling was a real treat. The staff was always friendly in a city of not very friendly people. The little fully-stocked kitchen was wonderful as I'm gluten sensitive and being able to bring food I can eat and cook it there was terrific. I will definitely return there.

The hotel has an excellent location, furnishings, parking, along with wi-fi, and a kitchen with silver and glassware. The work space area is perfect. They advertise a healthy breakfast, however the only healthy items were the fresh oranges and bananas. The fruit juice was laden with corn syrup, and the pastries offered were high fat, although the scones and muffins looked fresh. They also advertise feather comfort on the bed which was quite comfortable, however, I am allergic to feathers. A synthetic blanket and polyester pillows were available in the room, rather than having to ask for them, which was a nice touch.

I stayed last night at Larkspur Landing. The room was very clean and quiet, the staff members were professional and accommodating, the continental breakfast was excellent, and the free Wi-fi and parking were nice perks. I highly recommend Larkspur Landing and would return.
