This wonderful park, 240 acres in total, and first laid out and planted in the 1920s, provides a place of refuge, relaxation and/or fun for Sacramentans of every age, race, and interest. The Zoo and Fairy Tale Town interest the tiny ones; also, feeding the ducks in the duck ponds. Baseball diamonds for middle-schoolers. A 9-hole golf course, not too difficult but quite attractive, and not very expensive, for those trying to learn the game.
On every major holiday, the park is crammed with people from probably fifty national and/or ethnic backgrounds, all apparently enjoying a fun or relaxing time in close proximity to teach other. It provides a look at the broad cross-section of diversity that is the real Sacramento in 2012.
