“River View”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2011

We requested a river view and in room 704, this is exactly what we have! Welcoming staff, complimentary drinks/snacks, impressive breakfast buffet, spacious suites. We did not know about the $25.00 parking per day fee. (The parking garage across the street charges $24.00 per day.) Close to Old town Sacramento.

Room Tip: We. requested higher floor and river view, #704, has the view and is quiet, close to elevators

Positives- great location, good breakfast,

Negatives- Toilet broke, freeway noise all night and central air ducting rattled all night long.

the toilet backed up and the service people tried to fix but were unable to which made for a bad experience. I was given $30 off for this but I felt that wasn't enough.

Room Tip: Don't get 525! The rooms on the I-5 will be noisy!

I booked a delegation to ES Sacramento for a reunion, in fall of 2010, in time for gold rush weekend. We arranged for dinner in restaurants by the Sacramento river, not a hassle to mobilize because all you had to do was stroll across the street into old Sacramento. We also arranged for a picnic by the river in West Sacramento park, also a short walking distance. The historic place was all lit up at night time, especially since it was the celebration of Gold Rush weekend in Sacramento (first week of September is Labor Day weekend). As always the hotel lived up to its reputation, accommodating sales people, banquet people. Most of all the managers cocktail reception was something we looked forward to, every night. Most fun reunion, people gave rave reviews about our hosting. Came back to celebrate New year.

We stayed here on Labor Day weekend. The location was perfect. Walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go...old town and downtown. Rooms were spacious and clean. Lovedthe complimentary breakfast and nightly reception.

.After check in, we asked when our luggage was to be delivered; the front person indicated whenever the bell person is finished. She also was involved in a personal conversation while all of us waited in line to check in. Last, calling anyone for help was impossible. There were long waiting times.
Some of the staff were rude, both remote controls did not work; Darrel (who identified himself as the manager) said "things happen" when I complained; we had a technician come to our room and still one remote was not working. We requested again the next day, and the last technician was very nice.

We took our two young kids to Old Sacramento for the Gold Rush Days and had a great time and a very nice stay at the Embassy Suites. We didn't have to get in the car at all, which was great -- we just walked to Old Town and the beautiful Crocker Museum, which is just a block away.

The central open lounge area was fun for the kids to investigate while my husband and I had a glass of (complimentary) wine during the manager's reception in the evening. The breakfast buffet was bigger and better than expected and the room was large and comfortable, with 2 TVs, a sitting area, and in-room coffee (essential). In the evening the noise from the central area was pretty loud because of a party of some sort and the hoards of children roaming around, but this didn't bother us because we were in the same boat, and it was very quiet after 9:30 or so anyway. On this particular weekend I felt bad for any couples looking for a quiet getaway, but I think this was due to the very family-oriented Gold Rush Days event.

Room Tip: Get a river view!

Great location, but parking was $25 a day extra. Adds up. Free breakfast was above average and evening cocktail hour was a bonus. Older hotel. Room carpet was badly wrinkled from wear/age/heavy cleaning. Top floor (8) provided a glorious view of the freeway. Had consistent trouble with the thermostat. Room was spacious. Bathroom was clean and staff polite, helpful. All in all, a bit overpriced but comfortable.
