“Perfect location for Sacramento Visit”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

Great location for enjoying Sacramento. It is a short walk from the "Old Sacramento" tourist area. It is well secured. Great Breakfast, pleasant evening social (would be nice if they would use glass instead of plastic glasses), and very clean rooms (house keeping very pleasant). Negative--charge for parking; ridiculous 28 bucks and charge for internet. Both of these fees should be included with the hotel fee. I would say the charges are moderate range and certainly the parking and internet should be included. Exercise area is small and not all the machines worked. Not all the people coming in to work out were so happy. It did serve my purpose.

This is our third Christmas period at this hotel. All of the staff we encountered are very nice and helpful. The included breakfast is outstanding. There is the usual buffet assortment of fruits, breads, hot and cold cereals plus a grill where they will cook something to your order. Lots of meats, cheeses and veggies to put in your omelet or accompany your eggs.

We stayed three nights so we also enjoyed dinner while sitting at the bar one night so we could watch the 49ers football game. My steak sandwich was excellent. Lots of meat, dipping juice, BIG. I had a bowl of fresh fruit with it instead of French fries or coleslaw. For lunch the next day we had BBQ chicken sandwiches which were also excellent.

The rooms have comfortable beds with big bathrooms and bIg TVs in the bedroom as well as the sitting room. Comfy couch as well as a nice size table in sitting room. There is a fridge and microwave for those that need it. Valet parking only. I think it was $28 per day the time we were there. We walked two blocks to the old town area with lots of shops, restaurants and a few historical museums. Oh. There is a SMALL exercise room and a pool. But...right outside the hotel is a paved bike trail that goes for miles if you like to walk or run.

Great experience. Breakfast was excellent, although seating area was crowded. Staff were very helpful and committed. Will definitely return. Super close to Old Town Sacramento. Fun place to be close to Christmas.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Embassy Suites! The staff was helpful and very courteous. My room was immaculate and I slept like a baby. My co-workers and I enjoyed a great evening out and local shops and restaurants are within walking distance. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

This Embassy Suites has no self-parking, so you are forced to use their valet service - very expensive and not very responsive. Minimum time to retrieve a car (I did it five times) was 15 minutes, average was 20 minutes, and at check-out it took 35 minutes. And as with a lot of hotels that haven't figures out customer service yet, this one charges $10/nt for internet (costs them probably $.03/nt per room) - on top of the room fee. In today's world of free internet just about everywhere, this is simply "bad profit" on te part of the hotel. Hotel staff are obviously tired of people mentioning the internet charge - not trained to handle it well at all. I would rate this hotel higher if there was self-parking, or if the valet service wasn't so expensive and sub-par, and if it had free internet (at least for HHonors members).

I will be using this hotel every time I am in town. Both for business and pleasure. This hotel was clean, service was great and the food was very good. And there were several choices which made it nice. The staff were great.

If it weren't for the exceptional hotel staff bringing empathy, kindness and professionalism to our experience, we'd rate this as an average experience. Most notably was housekeeping being completely attentive, but not hovering and the two women working the breakfast meal every morning - always warm smiles, making us feel welcome and at home. Of note, the valets were incredibly punctual and always on spot with directions and advice for the area. We hope we tipped them well as they deserved. Aside from the staff, we felt there were a few facility issues that were not typical of our usual stay at all other Embassy Suites locations. For example, we were surprised at the odd room climate control issues. Our room was inconsistently warm and/or cold in each of the rooms, despite our best efforts to set the temperature and test opening and closing the door between the bedroom and living room in the suite. Secondly, we were located in the corner of the hotel on the second floor. Every night, it seemed like someone was dragging furniture on the floor above us, on what sounded like a bare wood floor. We were stumped as to how or why those noises would occur. Occasionally a loud thud would occur, as well. When we randomly traveled upstairs to investigate, the room above us was both carpeted and vacant the entire week. Haunted? lol. Also we were disappointed that the pool was closed during the entire week of our stay. Oddly, no one ever seemed to be working on it, despite it being shut down for annual maintenance. Lastly, although this seems petty - we're used to the Manager's Reception usually including drinks and a variety of hot and cold appetizers. This location specifically served flavorless chips/salsa, Chex mix and carrots and broccoli. +1 for veggies, not so much on the other choices!
