“Too Many Negatives”

My daughter & son-in-law had their reception on the Delta King in June of 2009. It was very hot unfortunately! There was little to no air conditioning in the room where the reception was. This is surprising because Sacramento does get some hot weather. I would have thought the heat would not have been a problem on the boat. Next they were very slow getting the food out & they did not provide enough of it or of water. The concept is good, but for my $$ I would book a reception elsewhere.

Staying on board the Delta King is an experience I would definitely recommend for anybody visiting Sacramento. The hotel is of good standard with clean, decent sized rooms and a great breakfast offered! Old Sacramento is a charming place to spend a few days and the Delta King is the ideal base from which to explore it, with the new town just a short walk away.

I really enjoyed my one-night stay on the Delta King. I was in town for business and I thought I would try something different. This is a real boat, so you have to understand that before you book your stay. The rooms are quaint, but very small. Once you realize that, you will enjoy a lovely dining room, a friendly staff, a great bar with nice views of the river and a convenient, central location. Parking is not included in your room price and there is no where else nearby to park, so figure $18, plus a tip for the Valet into the cost of your stay. The food is good. Breakfast in the restaurant is included in your price. Free wi-fi is included, but some rooms have no desk for your computer, so be ready to improvise. Everyone should give it a try at least once!

Room Tip: A view of the river adds to the experience.

I absolutley lucked out on this one. Checked in last minute Sunday afternoon and they gave me a large state room at a (AAA) discounted rate... Stayed a couple of days and loved it. Super seafood in restaurant. Nice friendly staffers. A real treat in quaint old Sacramento. Strongly recommend especially during mid week. Sunday is a little like being in New Orleans just on the river.

Enjoyed our stay here. Had dinner at the bar, sat outside overlooking the river due to singing inside. Loooove the Kobe burger!

Staff was very courteous. Wish someone had shown us where the thermostat was. We looked for it and gave up thinking that since it was an old ship probably centrally controlled. Too tired to phone and ask about it, so we were too warm during the night. However, spoke with someone else who stayed there and was told the control is on the side of the tv cabinet. Could have sworn we looked there, oh well.

For someone of large girth, the shower can be cozy. But ya won't fall down!

Breakfast (included) was good. They might consider reprinting their certificates, as I had a difference of opinion on the serving hours. Cert states one time range, restaurant staff says different. Just little things like that and the location of thermostat keep me from giving highest rating.

The river boat is quaint and sweet. I expected a small room so that was fine. What I didn't expect was the noise on the river on a summer Sunday afternoon. We paid extra to be on the river side. That part of the river seems to be the area to show off your motor boat. It is essential to have a gigantic speaker system mounted on the top of your boat, blasting rap onto the shore. It did quiet down at night, but I'm not sure that would happen on a Saturday night.

Very clean and quiet. Super staff from valet to front desk to housekeeping. Very fine bar and restaurant (although the bartender is a bit stingy with the booze in the martinis). An excellent value. It IS a riverboat, so don't expect big rooms or high ceilings. Lots of charm.

Room Tip: For quiet and evening sun, take the river side. For city view, morning sun and a bit more noise, ch...
